This will be a "Town hall" going for around 2 hours. The event will have the audio recorded again, and be published at a later date. Our previous town-hall recording will be available in the TOWN HALL ARCHIVE topic (in announcments) as soon as it finishes uploading. The goal will again be to address concerns and questions that the CM community has.


Procedure:
A special "Town Hall" voice channel will be made in the Discord.
Anyone who is not a staff member will be muted. You will be unmuted to ask your question, then remuted (to minimize craziness).
We will go in order of the posts in THIS THREAD (which will unlock 30 minutes before the meeting).
Questions that violate the rules, will be deleted, and if you ask a different question that what you post, you will not be allowed to ask another question.
If you have a question for a specific staff member, make sure their name is in your post.


Rules:
1. Questions can be about CM or SS13 only. Nothing about the personal lives/opinions of any of the attending staff on other topics.
2. Questions can NOT be about personal matters that pertain to players or staff members (such as a specific persons ban or notes)
3. Questions can NOT involve the current round
4. Duplicate questions will most likely be skipped if there is nothing additional to add. If someone else has your question, you can edit your post to change it.
5. Be RESPECTFUL and CIVIL.
6. One question per post, and don't double-post. Please give everyone a chance.

Instead of asking different questions about every single thing that might come up, i'll just ask one big aggregate question:
"What are xenos allowed to know at round-start".
This includes, but is not limited to: knowledge about humans, knowledge about colonists, knowledge about predators, knowledge about the brand new and shiny queen mother and xeno prime and so on. I want to know what they are allowed to know and what they aren't.

Q: Whats the status on new players getting some form of class restrictions or timelocks when they first start playing colonial marines?

Even if its only for 2 or 3 games (or hours) and the only restrictions were on major roles such as CO, CMO, CE, and RO's? ( although some smaller yet complicated/vital jobs such as CL, Survivor, Researcher, Specialist would also be nice to be considered)

This is directed to the developers of CM.

Would it be possible if some developers who have some spare time be able to walk us through the SS13 code (it can just be normal bay station code) and show us how things work to get us started?

Have you guys considered increasing the damage of the shotgun to structures such as walls or doors? that way the shotgun won't be only a weapon to deal a lot of damage to t3 aliens, but it will be usefull when assaulting the laboratory of the colony (by allowing you to destroy xeno walls quickly with it, or regular walls that aliens use as cover).

Apop and devs, how often do you destaff and play the game as a regular standard/xeno?

Essentially playing first hand the changes and balances you put forth in a full pop server and not a test environment?

if a CLEARLY obvious alien mine is on the ground, and you see it not covered by any trash,
would it be meta for a marine to avoid it? It literally looks like a caltrop.

Also, xenomorphs melting pickaxes in mining obp closets at roundstart is meta? or nah??

Just wondering if a thread topic could be opened/pinned up to act as a compendium of how the rules will generally be interpreted(by the higher ups) with several possible examples because at the moment rules 1,6,10,11 are all vague (which I assume is on purpose, of course since it provides you guys wiggle room). I ask since right now its really about learning who is the admin/mod currently ingame (at the time of a possible rule-break) and how they interpret the rules. Of course this make sense since at high pop times, its just not possible to enforce every single rule for the 120+ players online but I ask for this since it makes people think such rule-breaks are "OK" because they weren't busted last time for preforming such actions.

I bring this up since I keep seeing ban appeals popping up for rule breaks due to the vagueness of the rules. Like earlier today, not going to name the user but he committed suicide at the end of the round since he thought it didn't count as ERG since he thought it wasn't generating combat logs (which we told him, it does generate logs). Of course this can affect long term players like when Russian roulette was a thing and 2 long term players (technically 1 was banned for such the actual RR) were banned for playing the game and the minichat was in flames for 3 hours (the duration of their bans) since the intentions of RR was rather vague to the players

Have you given any thought towards allowing xenos have some sort of persistent number or identification so they can become more known as a community?

I find that toxicity is much lower when I know at least a few other xenos in the game, and I know that the 1-1000 rand current solution solves the 1000s of logins, but a 1-z five digit unique hash would give like 200 million combinations if I did the math right. Should be able to get us through greytide season at least.
