Summary: replace the technically inferior bladed weapons of the USCM with the state-of-art Japenese alternatives. They are made made with superior craftsmanship and have been perfected over 1000 years. USCM is rich, they can afford to hire japenese swordsmiths.

Benefits: Added realism. USCM has not done this in real life yet only because they can't afford it and there are still some myths about japenese weapons being not that good spread by internet trolls.

Description: in addition to new sprites, new stats come to represent the quality of these weapons. The wakizashi can pierce even crusher's hide thanks to the layered construction of the blade. It can reliably deflect strikes with little to no damage, assuming the user has experience and has studied the blade. The tanto, besides causing really deep wounds due to it's razor-sharp angular tip, is the perfect throwing weapon, making throwing knives obsolete.

Implementation: send each coder a copy of my book covering the topic of Japenese bladesmithing.

If we want to get technical, one half of lieutenants in the Colonial Marines carry katanas from what we've seen.
(The other half carry just a pistol, though he could have left it in the APC)
