CM vs Real Life

Post by Sadokist » 16 Dec 2016, 18:33

Only in CM can you try to point blank something beneath you and end up shooting yourself in the stomach on accident.
Only in CM can you try to hug someone and instead beat them with something.
Only in CM can you accidentally shoot someone at a 45 degree angle from where you're aiming.
Only in CM are you going to get tackled down by something then reflexively stand up while marines are firing over you (and get yourself blasted to bits).

Figured I'd compile some things that people try to do, or do in relation to code they can't change, and the wildly different and improbable outcomes that occur.

Only in CM can you be part of a company of space marines working for a mega-corporation, get sent to another colonized planet fully loaded with futuristic gear, only to find the entire colony has been massacred by quadrupedal/bipedal arthropods which recover odd hand-crab creatures from eggs that then shove a proboscis down their throat whenever you get too close, impregnating you with an embryo (that is basically just very fast developing cancer), which after about twenty-thirty minutes (ten if nested iirc), explodes out of your stomach where a worm pops out.

Only in CM that trained militaary crew, everyone with more than 30 years, actually fight to death because someone stolen their attachs
On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Lol that reminds me of this one survivor who was like "yea so our entire colony was taken out by these things, about 20 security guards armed with sub machine guns" i'm like "there's only 7 ayys right now and they suck, your story makes no sense"

Everybodies Dossier should read "this is my first day as a soldier, I didn't go through bootcamp and I've never fired a gun, in fact I haven't been outside the psych ward in 10 years".

Only on CM can one have such a salty but accepting community
"He killed me with a SADAR and it was bullshit. We should ban him for ERP because of how VIOLENTLY HE FUCKED ME" - Biolock, Saturday 15 October 2016

"Sometimes you need to stop and enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were big things"

"To quote Suits A cop follows a car long enough, he's gonna find a busted tail light. And even if he doesn't, he's gonna bust it himself." - Awan on being an MP

This.
"In 100 years more we will be a story. In 200 years an epic period. In 500 years a medieval tale.
In 1,000 years a relic. In 5,000 years archaeological remains. In 10,000 years an ancient mystery.
In 20,000 years a legend like Atlantis. We are nothing. Life is so short and death so long. "

Only in the latest CM update will wearing a soldiers uniform under your armour stop you from being insta-killed by point blank buckshot to the face. You will still be blinded due to the buckshot in your eyes however. Unsure if wearing a helmet stops the blindening.

Only in CM do marines not give a shit what happens to them or their teammates most of the time as they walk around with broken limbs, internal bleeding and organ damage in huge pain.

Only in CM (And SS13 in general) are people not able to look further than a few metres without losing all vision beyond that point.

And have it shaped like a square.
Graham Maclagan [Charlie (Spc)] says, "THERE'S A DRONE AND A TON OF INFECTED LEFT."
Graham Maclagan [Charlie (Spc)] says, "IT AIN'T OGRE"
Graham Maclagan [Charlie (Spc)] says, "NOT YET."
Charlie Harding [Charlie (CL)] says, "It's never ogre."

Thy hero potato hath returned

Hivemind, Mature Larva (47) hisses, '"Hunter 47"'
Hivemind, Young Drone (420) hisses, 'Agent 47 GOOOO'
Hivemind, Young Drone (420) hisses, 'OH M GOD'
Hivemind, Young Drone (420) hisses, 'NOW I'M 420'

Kain Powers [MedSci (Doc)] says, "Im doing an infected marine"
LT Holden Ward [MedSci (BO)] says, "Please do not have sexual intercourse with infected marines"

Hivemind, Young Runner (911) hisses, 'And what a fitting number!'

Only in CM is it acceptable for Doctors and Engineers, Security Officers and important positions on a space ship to ICly have no idea what they are doing due to the OOC player not knowing the guides yet.

Only in CM, the military is incompetent.
George S.Patton once said:No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

I don't like cute things.

Good hunting.

It's year 2179 and humanity has mastered faster than light travel, but their combat troops deploy at night, in the bush, without even rudimentary 20th century night vision devices...

Weyland must be trimming costs.

It's his pass, he's a good player, but a long time ago *Insert Morgan Freeman voice*

He was CO, and use to let his marine die in horrible tactics, but now he's a good player. But legends never die, even if they are memes
