Coilgun or Gauss rifle:
A Gaussian barrel (also known as a Gaussian barrel or rifle) is a type of barrel that uses a succession of electromagnets to magnetically accelerate a projectile at high speed. The name "Gauss weapon" comes from Carl Friedrich Gauss, who formulated mathematical proofs of the electromagnetic effect used by the Gauss guns. Gauss guns are often mistakenly called rail guns by different sources, and while they are similar in general concept.
Railgun:
The operation of the weapon is based on the principle of homopolar motor: a pair of parallel conductors (the rails) are fed by an electric current. The projectile is placed making contact with both, to close the circuit. The current that is produced interacts with the strong magnetic fields generated by the passage of electricity through the conductors and this accelerates the projectile linearly in the direction of the rails.
Gauss rifle, Railgun, etc. all of them uses electromagnetism to shoot a projectile.

There's a Wey-Yu railgun sniper rifle in AVP2

This is not close to the pulse rifle. The pulse rifle uses caseless telescoped rounds and the "pulse" in the name comes from electric ignition.
Cool, though.
