Re: How did you get here?
I played BYOND years ago and played a few different games on it with some friends. I joined to play a Resident Evil game, then moved over to an open world zombie game that had a city and a day/night cycle, it was crazy fun but I can't remember what game it was. It eventually died out. I spent ages playing DBZ Heroes until it died out as well.
I remember trying SS13 back then but couldn't wrap my head around how it worked and didn't play very long. I came back to 2dspessmen13 after a few years when I got reminded of BYOND and had more RP experience, thus I started playing it a year or two ago mainly playing medical roles on /tg/station before moving to Baystation and playing very roleplay-centric roles.
I took about a 4 month break from SS13 before coming back and finding CM, which I'd spectated on a few odd occasions but hadn't actually played until later last month. I played a couple rounds as a boot marine, then reoriented myself into SS13 medicine through Squad Medic and now main Doctor/CMO/Squad Engi roles with some SL and CT here and there.

Re: How did you get here?
I think I found Byond and SS13 randomly. Or I found it through Plump Helmet Punk. Probably through Plump Helmet Punk because his channel is linked on the channel of another Youtuber that I watch. This was back in the late summer of 2014. I played Goon for awhile, then TG, a bit of Paradise, a few other servers, and then I stumbled onto CM.

Found BYOND because a friend of mine wouldn't shut the fuck up about this 2D game called SS13. Thought it sounded retarded. Played a few rounds of it. Got hooked. Been around since early 2009-ish
How I found Colonial Marines? I was on the Hub one night, bored as fuck, and saw this thing called "Colonial Marines". Thought "Huh, interesting...", heard the Warrior Song in the lobby, and got hooked at once. Been here ever since, taking sporadic breaks now and again when I get occupied with other games.

Re: How did you get here?
I found SS13 on a channel called venera13studios, decided it looked cool and downloaded BYOND.
I found CM because it was the very first server I went on and learned the UI basics there as a xeno. I totally loved the idea of an Aliens deathmatch game.

Re: How did you get here?
I started to play BYOND all the way back in October of 2013. Due to a friends recommendation. In fact, I remember playing on the colonial marine server in it's early stages.
Good days.
Although, there is a two year void (this year and last), because I started to attend a military boarding school.

Re: How did you get here?
I can't really remember.. It was so many years ago...
Maybe I discovered it via TVtropes? I do know there was a time where I'd go to TVtropes a lot and spend hours reading page after page, and stumbled across SS13 at some point. I doubt that is how I discovered it, though, but it is a really good guess.
I remember my first server too.. It was some random server whose name I don't recall, where I believe I was suddenly murdered out of the blue.. And then there was a time where I was roaming scared around some space station, confused as all hell with a clown backpack on my back and apparently growing fat for some reason.. Then, at some point, I found Goon, and the rest is history.

I ran into this random guy on Minecraft, funnily enough, who had his own private server, and introduced me to the game. This was what, three-four years ago?

Re: How did you get here?
I was on a teamspeak server for a game I was helping to develop at 5am. Some random swedish guy told me what he was playing, I wanted to play roboticist (I'd tried to get into it before but stopped after downloading byond because it was dumb), he introduced me to yog. Never talked to the guy again.

Re: How did you get here?
A friend introduced me to Goon and I stayed there for a few months when I made an account on good ol'byond, then went over to paradise to give it a look in on that friends recommendation and stayed there for a couple of months playing as a diona security main, during this time I checked out Cm briefly before and played as a commander with no limbs and led the marines until I went to go make food and found that my LO assistant who was essentially my military chair pusher/day carer who wheeled me around had vanished and I promptly died. After that enjoyable session I joined permanently a month and a bit after roughly, at the time I didn't even realise Cm had a forum, later down the line I registered on the NE-CM forums and stuck with Cm during the split and now I'm here.

Re: How did you get here?
I got into Byond initially because it had Dragon Ball Z and anime games on it that I thought looked cool.
I played games like Roleplay Rebirth, Sundered Earth, Sunday the 19th and that high school game where you killed the other students. All role play stuff.
Then I found CM looking at SS13 one night, and I've never been into SS13---but CM is fun and I like it. Been playing it on and off since, but more recently on.

Re: How did you get here?
There were threads on 4chans /v/ about it, I was hooked on the idea of Depth at the time and someone said 'SS13 is basically this but in space and real' and the stories were always amazing to hear so I downloaded byond and hopped right on.
I ended up on goon, as I wanted to try and learn the ropes on a public server before joining the cool kids on /tg/station (Before it was 'TG' Basil whatever it is now, Long time ago) I spawned as a clown because it seemed the right amount of nonimportance and failed to even make my way out of the arrival shuttle because I couldn't tell what tiles were doors. I got angry, said it was bullshit and shitposted for a while before eventually giving the game another shot and dived in headfirst on /tg/
I had a rocky start with a lot of borderline griefing which most people do. And even decided once to re-invent myself, ckey and in-game name fully after I had learned enough to be competent. Thus 'Incognito' being my ckey. The old account was deleted for inactivity so there is now no 'true' identity.
I administrated /v/station while it was a thing briefly, There was a lot of drama but honestly most of the issue was I was young and power tripping, I never ruined rounds as much as most people but I got a bad rap at the time because, if you haven't figured it out, I argue, I salt, and I generally hate everyone and prefer to be hated by everyone.
Anyway between 2010ish and now I changed a lot about ss13 in general (At least, the non-goon branches) with my shenanigans and just raw ability to 'Powergame' (Which back then, wasn't actually a thing to be frowned upon really. It was seen the same as robust One in the same in fact.)
I did things not many others did and then I perfected my ability to do them and lead to them getting nerfed or changed because I had no sense of right or wrong. See OB-Inna-Can on CM for a general idea. Hell! once upon a time I wrote the literal guide on powergaming, and handed it out like candy. At the time it was very detailed and its mere existence caused many large changes in the /tg/ branch. https://pastebin.com/APMURbsV (A good read if you were around and want to reminisce about old times, Or just want to see part of history.)
Eventually after three or four times of people getting permabanned to erp rape my pixels, and one too many bad changelogs I took a break from ss13 for about a year so I could drop attention and cleanse my palate and that's really the end of whats interesting to tell. After that, I played normally and never did too much of note.
Tldr:
I came to CM when it was in Alpha or Pre Alpha or something once and only once, Then later came back because it was the most popular server and I figured it must be different enough that I may enjoy it where I no longer enjoyed SS13 itself.
