Byond ID: NeroCavalier
Colonial Marines Character: Alisa Reis
Age: Old enough
Gender: Mentor
Timezone: Central Standard Time
On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? 20-30
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? Nope
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? I have played on and off on Pre-Alpha.
What other servers do you play on? I rarely play on Aurora.
What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM? None.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before? None.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)? I likely have a permaban on some old server when I first joined, hit someone with a toolbox, then left.
Are you familiar with the chat program Slack (its use is required)? Yes.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
IC issue if no one is hit. If he hits anyone, check notes and vars to see if it's proper escalation or accident, question, gently tell them to be more careful and let it be handled IC if no notes prior to this and it's an accident. Apply warning and note if improper escalation. Apply day ban if history of improper escalation.
If it's a mass grief scenario, freeze, question, apply three day ban and heal people as needed.
If new, throw a mentor at them.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
Determine its cause first, if predator bomb or rasputin do nothing. If it's accident, apply warning then apply note to player. If it's intentional melting or breaking down the wall, check notes. Apply warning if no prior notes and apply note. If there's prior history, apply day ban.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
I cannot give out nuke codes. Wait for Mother report, apply subtle message that "maybe you should finish this" to highest ranking marine.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
Check notes of the marine and ask them why they threw it into logistics. It is entirely possible for them to accidentally prime it and panic throw it away. If it's an accident, apply note then warning and then let it be handled IC. If it's griefing, that's a day ban.
Remind Researcher to be more careful with who they hand their grenades to.
5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
Apply note, warn them to stop. Ask another mod to ask them to stop, then apply three hour ban if they keep on going after that.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
Check notes. Ask that he changes it next round. Apply note. If there's an active Admin on, ask what name he would like and ask said Admin to change it. If not, mark their name down and at the beginning of next round, PM them and remind them to change it. Apply three hour ban if they refuse to comply or have prior notes.
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Ignorance of rules is a rulebreak itself. Ask them again to change their name and if they say no, apply three hour ban.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
Is he under danger? If so, let him use it to defend himself. If not, remind him that he is a civilian that should be helping his colleague, not running around with a gun. Check notes. If there is prior history, apply jobban. If not, apply note and a firm warning again.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
And that's a no-no. Tell them to stop and cauterize. Check notes. Apply warning and note if no previous similar incidents, apply day ban if there's a previous incident. Apply jobban if there's multiple prior history.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Wait until the next M.O.T.H.E.R Report and subtle message Marine Leaders that "perhaps they should strike now while their foes are weakened..." Not much I can do here beyond this.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
Sleep them then apply 3 hour ban as per tradition. Delay if needed to handle more EORG.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
Let them do it to build situational awareness. If they consistently and persistently slip fellow marines well past pajama stage, remind them of RP guidelines.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
Check notes. Apply warning about proper escalation and note if no prior history. Apply day ban if prior note. Apply three day ban if lots of notes.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
This isn't an actual attempt and I'm not applying for mod in the foreseeable future. I am also probably harsh with punishments.

Re: NeroCavalier's mod app
I'm concerned that your backstory doesn't really describe your pred's personality. I like your playstyle, it's unique and might be difficult to do, but I really can't get past that backstory. I understand that writing isn't everyone's strong point, so I'll be watching you ingame to see how well you roleplay. Neutral for now, leaning +1 for the past experiences ingame and good playstyle.

Re: NeroCavalier's mod app
While a good suggestion overall this just buffs marines too much. Marines are already overpowered as is, and Xenos don't need even more bullshit thrown on top of them. I like the idea, but it may have to wait until a later date, and I do NOT want this in.
+1 Bad application. Hope to see you in game.

0/10, No mention whatsoever of how to use the Preferred Player Panel to give people higher dodge rates versus bullets and slashes. It's very important for rewarding snitc-I mean honorable players who seek us out to confide others wrongdoings. Without mastery of this aspect, I'm afraid you'll just have to stay a mentor.

Re: NeroCavalier's mod app
- For question 1, why aren't you turning the griefer into a monkey? If you are mod here, you will have to abuse your power to instill fear into the playerbase.
- For question 2, there will never be breaches if you delete the SM & get rid of the raps/pod controls. Bonus points for boxing in all predators you find, so they can't cause any harm.
- For question 3, simple answer is you hand 4 random marines a single digit of the nuke code and have them figure out what it is, but marines barely know how to operate a flashlight, so good luck...
- For question 4, it is very valid to bomb req (even though it says logistics) for not giving them precious attachments, if anything we are obligated as staff to find 4 extra volunteers to overthrow this nazi RO.
- For question 5, none of that is needed, just tell him his waifu is trash. That will shut him up
- For question 6, just offer them some other meme name.
- For question 6a, why you have to be such a buzzkill, Nero? This is just autistic spessmen game, why u soooo serious?
- For question 7, not allowing battle doctors? How else are they going to be a diamond mercy now?!?!?!
- For question 8, its all good for a medic to open up another marine, his dad was totally a surgeon...
- For question 9, use M.O.T.H.E.R and queen mother to order the xenos and marines to form the first xeno/human Sadie Hawkins dance. It'll be a hit, just make sure to spike the punch
- For question 10, dox the little shit and call their mom
- For question 11, there is only one proper way to settle this. You tp them both to the thunderdome and have them duke it out. The survivor gets banned for 3 hours and the loser banned for a week. Teaches that baldie to be robust.
- For question 12, but.... I've killed men for less, why should deranged marines not be allowed to murder each other over the most minor of incidents? If anything, I'll just goad the guy into shooting me and file a perma on the guy, for hurting my feeellings.
Also -100 points for not setting someone on fire for using a lazy kelo/derm pickup line
