I would say that specialist equipment is expensive, and if I remember correctly, the B18 is experimental. Stocking 4 sets of each when a maximum of four can be used seems awfully wasteful.

tbh it wasn't even a good setup if xenos are good

if xenos stayed in caves and built up choke points, a SADAR is useless. sure you might get a pick, but then your stuck with a huge reload time with marines behind you that are pushing you forward while a crusher / ravager charges at you at lightning speed

doubly so back in the day because crushers had AOE stuns and could tackle spam drag you while your fellow marines FF'd you to death

It's because the W-Y liaison bitched about environmental damage too much that they made it mandatory to take 2 sniper specs.

crushers used to eat AT for breakfast even before the buffs, doubly so afterwards

only flame rockets did shit all back then, and even then, the flame rockets weren't that scary after mature / elite T3

I used to always pick sadar, but now I feel the b18 and gl is a very strong combo and always try to get it on the rare occasion i am a spec.

In terms of the meta picks. I find the GL/B18 to be the best Spec pick right now.

The SADAR is still a good weapon, but I find it to be sometimes underpowered. Higher level xenos can shrug off even direct hit AT rockets, I've even seen Spitters and similar survive a AT rocket.

Snipers are also a good weapon if kitted well, but are harder to employ due to ammo and friendly fire/lack of raw stopping power.

This. Smartguns are good right now, B18/Grenade Launcher is great if you can land a hit since if another xeno tries to help a downed xeno, you can get multiple kills in one. Snipers are pretty meh... and SADAR will always be okay. I feel like there isn't really a massive 'kick' to specialists anymore though. And I also feel like T3's are hard as balls to kill now which is probably the reason why specialists feel like they got worse. To me at least.
