People get to see the crap we put up with on a daily basis and it shows how cops are 99 percent of the time in the right and people lie.

The only downside is they’re very expensive to buy and maintain. We don’t have them because our community trusts us and just to outfit our entire department would cost over 1 million plus $500,000 a year for storage purposes
These body cams are special in some way? cause i'm thinking a cheap smartphone on a mount with a 64gb microsd card would do the trick mostly.

Waterproof, shock proof, robust, even some are ballistic proof.
Also like everything else, police equipment is scrutinized by slimey lawyers in court. They will try and make a song and dance on "THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL EQUIPMENT TESTED, HOW DO WE KNOW IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY!!!!"

The only other negative is some departments intentionally left them recording on 24/7 and are now facing federal lawsuits because a police officer using the bathroom isn’t supposed to be public record

We’re one of the safest cities in Florida, our major crime is car burglaries because people leave their cars unlockedat night and kids come around and steal stuff at night.

Most of our robberies by firearm or strong arm
Robberies are drug rip offs. Also a lot of craigslist snatch and run robberies for cell phones. But we’re so safe you could walk your dog down in our neighborhoods at 3 am and not be bothered, well except by us because we’re gonna probably come talk to you at 3 am

ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

We have officers who have gotten amateur training in gator wrestling. There’s actually a science behind it.

Hey there,

How does it work, do you have a partner to investigate stuff or do you get to patrol and answer calls. Also how hierachy works there if there is any and what rank are you?

I’m assigned to traffic unit right now, but when I was Patrol it worked the following way:

Each district is run by a lieutenant and then we had three shifts (day/evening/miss) then we have two squads Alpha and Bravo

So for one district you would have it broken up into patrol zones. 1 sergeant overseeing 4 to 6 officers

Each officer was responsible for patrolling and going to each zone. We patrol solo but we send 2 officers to most call where one is the primary and the other is a cover. The primary has to do the report.

It shit breaks bad we can pull extra officers from other districts.

At the moment I’m just an Officer with 6 years on, sl I’m considered a little senior, I have about 30 people under me with less seniority. But we all answer to Sergeants.

I always of hesitated between being a cop and being a soldier. Guess I should of been a cop because what you just described sounds way more intresting than my current job, although it's funny. As a sergeant I led up to 10 people to fully man a FOB main checkpoint in africa yet in your hierarchy as an officer you answer to a sergeant, whom leads people that can have up to 30 peeps?

Think I got confused somewhere boss. Lol.

Police sergeants are different from NCO's in a military.
They're more of supervisors who approve reports, and one sergeant in my department usually has 4-6 officers under him/her

Sedition, get ready for lethal injection.

Do you have a rate of crimes performed by ethinicities? I saw some stats where Blacks commited more car robberies while Whites commited more house breakings? I am not sure since USA stats don't appease me, but do you keep stats of who comitted what crime and their ethicinity?

When we take reports and make arrests for crimes, we have whats called Uniform Crime Reporting where we add the information of Race/Gender to all subjects involved.
These stats get reported to the Department of Justice/FBI

https://ucr.fbi.gov/

It's my experience more whites commit crimes more than any other race statistically just because of how more there are.
