How the mortar is able to fire on prison station

Post by Build_R_ » 08 Aug 2018, 14:12

Whenever the mortar is used on prison station I always hear things such as 'How can it fire in a space station?' and 'Isn't there a ceiling?' and 'Stop friendly-firing me, Jim!'

Today I'm here to explain 2 of those incidents. You see, firing a mortar on a space station is a simple concept really, but allow me to show you what people believe happens AKA the wrong way.

The wrong way (Fiction):
► Show Spoiler
Clearly, a mortar shell should not be able to phase behind or destroy the ceiling of a space station, that would result in explosive decompression obviously. Now let me show you what REALLY happens as the mortar travels through the air.

The right way (Fact):
► Show Spoiler
As you can see, the mortar shell doesn't travel at all like one would expect it to. On prison station, the mortar is actually flipped upside-down and shells are fired into the ground! From there they travel through the vents until they reach their target. It's a simple concept and it means that the shells do not in fact travel up through the ceiling in an enclosed space station, that would just be ridiculous.

PS: The 'shattered glass' that appears after firing the mortar is actually the shattered bones of xenos that the shell impacted upon.
When the OB misfires and xenos are on your doorstep.

Totally believable. The airflow makes the shell faster.

In all seriousness, I chose to believe Prison Station has some sort of artificial Ozone.

actually, the mortar uses bluespace technology to tele the Shell in the desired coordinates. Vents are obsolete.
I play Sydney 'Lilly' Wood, the totally not depressed doctor, And the marine Dylan Bell, that probably joined the USCM by accident.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions related to research.
