This thread is for people interested in learning to make maps on SS13 or receive feedback on some mapping project they are working on.
I don't know if anyone will notice this and be interested, but if you are, I'll try to respond as soon as I can. I am only making this thread because I remember how little I knew starting out as a mapper and how much I wanted a second opinion from someone else.
So please, if there is anyone interested in learning to map, whether for fun, a specific server, or just to try it out, don't be afraid to comment!

Are you two looking to learn from the basics or do you have specific questions?

Re: Mapping Thread
Sorry for the delay in response, I had exams this week and was caught up in that.
Alright, to learn a bit about mapping, you first need to download a code base. I'd recommend using a code base from a server that you play on frequently, that way, you have more familiarity with all of the objects that are available. At the time I started mapping, I was a older Moderator who didn't play other servers very often and CM code wasn't available, so I used the closest substitute, which would be Bay code.
So, for whatever code base you want to work with, find it on a github (simply google something like ex. "Bay source code SS13") and download it to your computer. I'd recommend putting it on your desktop so you can easily access it. After you've downloaded it, pull up the SS13 Hub on the Byond app and look towards the top right corner. There you'll see a little "gear" icon, click it and select "Start Dream Maker". When you do that, a Dream Maker will open on your screen, which will look like a white screen with a bar on the left with a few options at the top left labelled "File", "Build", "Window", and "Help".
When you've done all that, please message back and we'll continue.
