Wasn't quick enough to get the Pip-boy edition, so I bit the bullet and got the anthology edition. Because who doesn't want their own mini-nuke?
It even has a slot for your Fallout 4!

Re: OFFICIAL FALLOUT DISCUSSION THREAD *Apophis Seal of Approval*
Alright, so I've figured out something odd with Fallout 3.
The nuclear detonations within the city would of clearly cleared most of the buildings out if they were true to their nuclear nature. Given the time-frame and the technology made, the nuclear advancements would of been greater than what they are today. However, this is not so.
If a nuclear detonation truly occurred within the city limits, skyscrapers would collapse in on themselves or onto the streets. However, Bethesda claims that reinforce steel and rebar were a result, along with anti-nuclear countermeasures. I do not believe even this would stop a true nuclear weapon.
In my analysis, they have a flaw in the lore here, which they couldn't support in New Vegas if they didn't state that House used lasers to deflect nuclear missile warheads and bomb payloads. They must think that low yield would be feasible, but obviously not. The inner city (if seen with TCL and looking into the inaccessible parts of the city) show that there are spots void of buildings, but at least 80 percent still remain up. Given the 7 capable nuclear nations and their arsenals, complete nuclear exchange (as Bethesda stated there was in the Great War) would of left the entire area a flat, desolate area with little remnants of buildings, no matter the yield. We all saw what happened in Hiroshima.
However, the standing building in Hiroshima stands to be another counter-measure against my evidence, as it may be possible that atomic bombs such as the ones used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, could produce the same effect. Light to medium structures would of been completely destroyed, but concrete and rebar buildings may indeed stand intact with moderate to severe damage, and those further away with light to moderate damage.
Final Analysis: They fucked up and now have a flaw within the lore. They should really clear it up, because no-lifes like me just detected this and now have something to wag our finger at.

It was an inside job. Nukes can't melt reinforced steel and rebar beams.Sovieteer wrote:Alright, so I've figured out something odd with Fallout 3.

Re: OFFICIAL FALLOUT DISCUSSION THREAD *Apophis Seal of Approval*
maybe they weren't using nukes but some weaker derivative so that invading the mainland would still be both desirable and feasible if they so chose to do so later (nukes do have many different yields afterall), or maybe damage was reduced by something that came out of big mountain or MIT or some shit like that, stopping an all out nuclear attack completely may not have been viable but reducing the force of that impact could in theory be done, even if such an attack were to occurr in real life i understand there ARE defenses which can be used against atomic weapons to shoot down some of the missiles before they reach their targets so its easily possible it may not be as bad as it COULD have been (at least in the united states, as i understand it europe and asia are just.....gone, for lack of a better term)

Pre-ordered fallout 4 to get a physical copy for PC! What im worried about is mostly immersion by deconstructing houses by the press of a button, let's hope mods get released to make it more immersiful.

P-physical copy of a PC game? That's still a thing? Last physical PC game I ever got was L4D2 and that literally just installed the game and gave me a code to redeem for it on Steam, granted that it is a Valve game.sirnat wrote:Pre-ordered fallout 4 to get a physical copy for PC! Anyway, I'm a fan of Vault 12. And sadly, I missed out on the special edition of Fallout 4 and as it seems, there are no more left to be sold. Well, except for those people on Ebay asking for $500+. Either way though, I'm pretty excited for it. I actually just started New Vegas for the first time last week and I'm really enjoying that. I can see why people argue over whether or not it's better than 3.

Fallout Shelter is a pretty solid and
well done for a small game.
But you can't compare it to Fallout 3.
They're nowhere near the same.
I poured lots of hours into 3
and, yes, New Vegas too.
I'm just glad to see the series
give us something fun and new.

I really enjoyed playing Fallout 3. I finished it and all the DLCs. Haven't finished New Vegas, but I hope Fallout 4 gets the hardcore mode like on New Vegas. That made playing the game interesting.

Re: OFFICIAL FALLOUT DISCUSSION THREAD *Apophis Seal of Approval*
Fallout's been a favorite series of mine for a long time. New Vegas is easily in my top five, so I'm hoping Fallout 4 lives up to the hype-train. I feel like the writing for New Vegas(especially concerning the DLC's) was exceptional, so what I'm gonna be looking for in Fallout 4 will be something similar. Bethesda said they don't have any idea what the DLC is going to be, though. So not sure how that'll play out.
Goes better with soup.
