I'm just saying right now, the game is unfinished. It doesn't go past chapter two, as I'm sure a few of you have heard. The story this time around, unlike MGS 2 that at least had some meaning behind its convoluted nature, is woefully incomplete (sorta like the game). A fan actually made a comic depicting a fan ending that was better than the "true" ending of the game.

The gameplay of the game is great and all, but it does get tiring after a little bit; especially if you're like me and have played peace walker which had a lot of similar features. Everything about how the game plays is very smooth, and is better than any other MGS game so far. I just feel like the open world is a little too barren and doesn't really have that sort of stand out-ness of shadow mosses, or Russian in MGS 3. The game is fuckin' gorgeous, but once you get used to it you kinda start to notice these little things.

I blame Konami.

I kind of feel the same as Lostmixup. It's got great gameplay but the story is unfinished and I went from ultra-excited (had a week off of work when it came out to play it) to just kind of meh $:\$ over the story. The gameplay is still fun but I just feel like what could have been GOAT is just a pretty solid gameplay experience with a mediocre story.

As superbunnyhop put it (watch his videos), for anyone who isn't a MGS fanboy the game is a great game with a bit of a lack luster story. For MGS fanboys however, they feel the phantom pain of what should be there. They feel how great the game could've been but wasn't.

I feel like the "Phantom Pain" means multiple things. The pain of not having Hayter's voice, the pain of Kojima leaving Konami (read: being fired), the pain of experiencing the Fox Engine which is one of the best engines I've ever played on and knowing that Konami won't every use it again. The pain of no more metal gear games...it's all too much pain in something I once experienced.
