Customer Service or Customer experiences.

Post by bustered1 » 29 Sep 2015, 11:34

What is your worst customer service or customer experience? Or you can vent about anything.

So I basically work as an IT Customer Service rep, and the other day a customer had scanned 255 pages out of a text book (keep in mind this is copyright infringement), and soon discovered afterward that a simple scanner cannot handle that much memory (as these are converted over to PDF files). Now as the good guy I am, I come over to see what's wrong and find that in the process of converting, the entire program froze. So I go around clicking looking for a solution without losing this lady's hard work when the entire program shuts down. I start explaining that maybe there's a file dump somewhere or a hidden folder with the scanner's memory. I quickly find out that nope, her hard work is completely gone.

This sets her off, she demands an apology and demands me to say it was my fault for losing it. I look at her puzzled, of course, maybe she's joking as I only came here to help her not waste her time, and nope she gets up to talk to someone else. She soon discovers that there is no compensation for her lost files. She comes back demanding to speak to more IT personnel because it was my fault and I would just mess up things more. She explained in a very generous manner that if I couldn't get those files back that I might as well get to scanning.

Now, I'm a nice feller, and I don't easily get angered, but this is a college and she was scanning more than 10% of a book that's against copyright law and intending on printing it off using the college's resources. But if you go out and tell me that it's my fault for losing a massive file that you are desperately trying to hold your life together by waiting the day before your midterm to study 7 chapters, college isn't for you.

Lesson of the day. We're all humans don't take out your stress on someone else, it will ruin that person's day.

My worst experience. Was my grand mothers. Because I had to fix the issue that a ''It service'' For a virus she had. Was really a hacker group getting out her money. Boy it was fun watching her rattle off at the group after the Real programs It service found them out.
