I know for a fact that's wrong vrai. KeyWii is right. You have to see it as this, Parenthesis - Exponents - Multiplication/Division - Addition/Subtraction. When it comes to Multiplication/Division or Addition/Subtraction You read the equation from left to right whichever comes first.

The answer is 9.

Wow you didn't know the answer yourself...why ask a forum? To make me believe in humanity again, finish this: (x*-9)-(-9)=36. Find x

The answer using Pemdas is correct. You'll find that 9 is the right answer on tests and even your calculator if you care to consult it.

Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication/division, addition/subtraction. You do multi and divi on the same step, left to right.

So 6÷2(2+1) = 6÷2x3 = 3x3 = 9

Same dealyo with addition/subtraction, perhaps a bit more obvious.

Wrong way: Doing addition BEFORE subtraction, regardless of their position.
2-3+1+1+1= 2

2-4+1+1+1

2-5+1+1

2-6+1

2-7

-5

Right way: Working subtraction and addition in the same step, from left to right.

2-3+1+1+1

-1+1+1+1

0+1+1

1+1

2

Hopefully that clears things up.
TLDR: Go back and read it. I spent time writing that, ya know.

I've taken too much algebra and trigonometry classes to forget the stupid order of operations. I never got to take calculus sadly, but my major doesn't require calculus heheh.

This is the answer.

It goes like this:

Brackets
Square Brackets
Exponents / Indices
Division / Multiplication
Addition / Substraction

If you prioritize one over another, you are fucking it up, you are supossed to do from left to right all the equals, one by one.

On a square root, the number that indicates if it's Square, Cubic, etc... Root.

And math problem? Why are you guys even having trouble with this crap? It's fucking 7th grade shit.

3

(-9x)-(-9)=36
(-9x)+9=36
(-9x)=27
-x=3
x=3

actually if your math is correct, which I am not entirely sure because equation is unclear and implies an x squared variable, then x would actually equal -3 because when you switch the sign on the x you have to do it to both sides.
