Refugee Thread
This is a thread for people who have migrated from other SS13 Server communities to CM, whether your server went down, it's boring, or it became an absolute hellhole to play in, this is where you can talk about the Pride, Glory, and/or absolute hate you've felt for servers that you've left to come to this one. The Good, bad, and somewhere in-between moments you've had on them.
This may or may not be a psychology test.

Re: Refugee Thread
I moved here from Baystation shortly before it died. I came because I liked the idea and stayed because I liked the community. Eventually I got a craving to play Bay and logged on and found it was dead, so now CM is my main SS13 server.

Re: Refugee Thread
I actually played CM long before its current state, but I didn't have enough free time and eventually stopped. Now, years later, I've been playing Archangel for two years, a server which apparently was held in bad light. It was cool, it was overhauled to cater to one of the best fandoms I've seen, and it had a close-knit community. But one fateful day, Norc (the owner of the server) was on the edge of homelessness, and couldn't maintain the server.
Archangel went down, until the headmin (Which was a close friend of Norc's in real life) helped him find money, and the server came back, reborn as Absolution.
Only, it wasn't as popular as before. even after Alucard (You may know this infamous name) was banned. People lost interest, or had moved on when it was temporarily down. Then Norc announced that he would be closing the server, moving on to making an actual game.
The server was closed source. I didn't have anywhere else to go besides the standard servers so I came to CM.
EDIT:I made that sound like it meant a looooooooooooot more to me than it did, didn't I?

Re: Refugee Thread
I started on Bay12, learned how to be great in Medical, playing nothing but Medical for almost a year. Then a few friends from Bay told me about the CM alpha testing, and it was new, fun, so I stuck around.
Now it's much less fun because playing xeno = losing during prime time hours (the only time I can play) so now I mostly just lurk on the forums. Bay12 is dead, but there's another server, Polaris, that seems to be Bay12 2.0. Honestly though, I tend to just play on Vorestation cause I've got a few friends there.

Started on paradise, moved to yog, server hopped for a bit then came here and found a home. Simple as that.

Re: Refugee Thread
Started on Paradise as Grugg G'nugg and played for about a year until my friends got bored of it. Tried out some dumb server about aliens or something but didn't really get past a few rounds of running around in sec gear with c20's. After that I played on Aurora as Daniel Wahlberg for about a year. Tried out that dumb alien server again and played a few more rounds.

I have absolutely no clue. Just decided to try it out again a month or so ago and there were only like 5 people on. Less and less since. There's nothing written on the forum about it as well. No clues as to why.RoswellRay wrote: Didn't believe you but holy shit it is dead,how? ;~;

Started on New Eden. Became moderator in New Eden. Switched to Devon, then head dev. It died, started up again, and then died again. Not a long or interesting story, and now I roam CM dying really quickly cuz I am bad at aiming.

Re: Refugee Thread
I started playing in 2012, and after that randomely played in a number of servers with out joining the SS13 community deeper than that. Only server I really joined properly by being active on forums etc. was infestation station in late 2013 and early 2014. After it was shutdown I started again randomely playing in a number of servers until I decided to get to know this server better.

Paradise and traitor station. Let paradise sit because it is a boring ass server and check on it when I heard laser fire or alarms go off while I coded. Came here, can't go back to paradise. Fucking glorified chatroom!

Re: Refugee Thread
First started out with a couple of rounds in Goon since I figured it would be the best place to mess around and learn the controls. I had my brain forcibly removed in the first five minutes of the first round I ever played, waited fifteen minutes to become a cyborg, and immediately saw my only law was that I was an owl and had to act accordingly. Needless to say, I instantly loved this game.
I then became a lonely miner in a fairly small server. I can't remember the name and I'm not sure if it even exists anymore, but I enjoyed it for quite a while. Eventually, after a continuous cycle of easily killing the same old aliens, armor plating the heck out of my suit and mech, and instantly being killed by traitors the second I tried to unload the minerals I found, I decided to see what a combat oriented server was like. Sometimes I miss the killer vending machines and clown assassins, but I'm completely hooked on this server.

Re: Refugee Thread
I've played on a lot of servers and I have seen a bunch die, and this is evident from playing SS13 since 2010. Currently I play here(CM) and that new kid groove known as Lifeweb, the rest don't peak my interest. :^}} Secret Sages of SS13 unite!
P.S. I really miss BlackBanner and Hypatia and I'm glad Aliumstation is dead(the host hated me 4noraisen).

Re: Refugee Thread
Force Commander Tiberius from Archangel IV, I've been stranded in the warp for a long time, our Thunderhawk recently fell out shortly after near a system with multiple planets, only hospitable one is a jungle world with 98% Oxygen and 2% Nitrogen. I've seen a ship floating about in space near a jungle world the ship is full of life signs and appears to be of ancient origin. Attempted contact has been futile, given that our techmarines can't understand the old receiver arrays of the ship, on the side is printed U.S.S Sulaco. We scanned the planet today, lifesigns were sighted but nothing of major importance. This is Force Commander Tiberius, our thunderhawk is under immediate threat from the U.S.S Sulaco as it fires on us, the weapons appear to be ballistics requesting any fire support in the sector. -Static-

i started off on Hypatia , and i really enjoyed that , along with Unbound Travels. On Hypatia it was pretty fun , until it was ruined by shitty admins and some crisis over a dev deleted shit and an admin throwing a tempter tantrum.
I stopped playing unbound travels when i was job banned from security for not giving a prisoner their headset or letting them talk to the HoS as they were in a life or death situation in the morgue. i really have shitty admins

Re: Refugee Thread
Wasn't unbound travels previously BestRP? I remember the time when it had awesome admins like Ronald who made a lot of events and stuff to keep players happy. Then in one night almost all staff were demoted and were replaced with shit admins. JamieDigWeed for example became full admin out of the blue and the same day threatened me with a ban and talked to me like in very disrespective tone for using lethals against an antag who seemed to be his friend. I asked who are you and where are the previous staff like Ronald? He told me he is the admin now and I have to accept his authority. Yeah that was the day I stopped actively playing there. Anyways, I get your point man, hopefully nobody has to suffer from shit admins and their favoritism circlejerk nowadays.Outboarduniform wrote:i started off on Hypatia , and i really enjoyed that , along with Unbound Travels. Re: Refugee Thread
Learned about SS13 through a friend with a voice so amazing that anything he said sounded golden. Phazon? Something like that. Started balancing SS13 while also adminning for a garrysmod TLOU RP server.
Started on Daedalus, a dead server (farewell, 72 hour extended rounds full of crazy shit!) where I got temp-banned constantly because my habits of learning games tend to function about the same as a destructive analyzer. Finally I was able to play SS13 well enough to learn some of the more complex crap and became a regular on Daedalus until finally it died out. Moved on to Aurora (I think it was, anyway) where I think Apophis also played on, oh boy we had some fun times together. He hates borers, by the way. Played Aurora, constantly getting in trouble for stuff since I was now expanding to learn all the different roles and antags. Eventually got permabanned because of a mixture of "absorbing monkey humans as a changeling is powergame" and "you can't kill people as a cultist despite the fact that they're trying to execute your entire cult and juggernauts are already killing people anyway". Moved on to New Eden/Yogstation, then CM came along, now it's my main server.

Permabanned for killing people as a cultist of Nar'Sie death cult? Alright that was a killer for me, didn't know they are that bad until you posted the story about your permaban.
