Re: Medieval Xenocalypse gamemode
Feweh, it's in general because I don't want to make it a full-on suggestion, it's just a random idea I'd like to see since... Well interesting, but would be a pain to make so not suggesting-- You get the idea... + I kill time developping it.
Now it's gonna get removed and denied so I will have written for nothing Q~Q

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

*sniff*
If only, if only the woodpecker sighed, I could have this lovely gaaaameooooooode...
Might be better with regular enemy troops instead of Xenos, reason being how powerful the Xenos are. Would make a brilliant server, though.

This all seems dandy in all, but has anyone considered 1700s xenomorphs?

Re: Medieval Xenocalypse gamemode
This will realistically never happen. You're asking us to basically scrap everything we've worked on in the last year and a half and start a new total conversion.
This would take at least a year of spine-breaking effort for all the sprites, code, balance and maps and polish. Not going to happen.
Locked.

Re: Medieval Xenocalypse gamemode
Can you just move it back to general? x_x I didn't want Feweh to move it to suggestion because it's not one, it's just an idea for fun and whatnot (AKA: I already know it's too hard to make so I posted it to fuel the subject in a specific thread and have fun developping the THREAD, not to make it happen).

Just want to point out that leather armor isn't a thing. A sword could rip leather apart, it'd be useless.
Also if you want something like this, just play on lifeweb.

Re: Medieval Xenocalypse gamemode
The most I've seen of lifeweb are occasional videos but even I know that its far from being a 'rape' simulator.
Rape is rare and looked down upon heavily, its a mechanic but doing it from what I've been told tends to get you killed and thus never really happens. Half the time whenever someone mentions lifeweb in dead chat then suddenly you've got ten people screaming about how hoards of people run around raping all the new joining people, which frankly seems like a stupid exaggeration.
Saying lifeweb is a rape sim is like saying CM is a griff sim because on rare occasion some rouge marine starts shooting up the RO line. It happens but its rare and always results in the perpetrator dying.

Actually, leather armor is a thing, even though it is different than seen in fantasy genres/hollywood.LordeKilly wrote:Just want to point out that leather armor isn't a thing. A sword could rip leather apart, it'd be useless.
Hardened leather lamellar or scale armor was fairly functional, and swords would have some difficulty going through it.. However, it may be difficult and expensive to make, thus making gambesons much more practical

Lifeweb is far from being just being a stupid game with rape mechanics, i consider lifeweb being DF in 3D for such good moments, you can build your own migrant fort in a damn cave, how cool is that? the combat and surgery system are excelent, and who doesn't like medieval games anyway?Casany wrote:lorde, lifeweb is a rape simulator with no xenos, this is not a rape simulator with xenos

Meh, we can have our own opinions about things. My opinions come from the 11 rounds I have played, and only one was a good one, the rest were well, detailed in the other post.lucashunter608 wrote: Lifeweb is far from being just being a stupid game with rape mechanics, i consider lifeweb being DF in 3D for such good moments, you can build your own migrant fort in a damn cave, how cool is that? the combat and surgery system are excelent, and who doesn't like medieval games anyway?

Would be amazing, indeed. Gotta smash a few xenos with a warhammer and split some more with a greatsword.
Fun to be had, time to be glad.

Re: Medieval Xenocalypse gamemode
Gambesons were used to reduce friction between your skin and chain. Leather armor wouldn't stop a sword, you can't make it hard enough to deflect a cut. Swords can cut through some armors, why would you think they'd be able to stop a leather shirt?enkas wrote: Actually, leather armor is a thing, even though it is different than seen in fantasy genres/hollywood.

A thick gambeson was also used as cheap stand-alone armor.LordeKilly wrote: Gambesons were used to reduce friction between your skin and chain. And I am not talking about a shirt, I am talking about lamellar/sacle. The leather would not stop a sword's edge only by it's thickness, but also due to the layers of the interlocked lames/scales.
And the only way a sword would cut through through chainmail, was if it was some cheap butted rings, instead of riveted. Fun fact, a sword has it fairly hard to cut through gambesons as well, which are layers of linen cloth.
There is a reason why people were more commonly using thrusting attacks.
