Fidel Castro Dies, Aged 90

Post by Youbar » 26 Nov 2016, 02:47

Former President Fidel Castro, who led a rebel army to improbable victory in Cuba, embraced Soviet-style communism and defied the power of 10 U.S. presidents during his half century rule, has died at age 90.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_iXh_iwrwA To battle, run, people of Bayamo!
The homeland looks at you, proud
Don't fear a glorious death
Dying for the homeland is living

In chains, living is living
Plunged in humiliation and shame,
From the trumpet, hear the sound;
To arms, brave ones, run!
"Man with one chopstick go hungry."

Fidel Castro, in the future, won't be celebrated for his role in being the head of a dictatorship, but rather, for his role in spreading communist influence into the western hemisphere, as well as challenging the authority of the United States of America in managing world politics.

He had killed people, yes, and he did lead a brutal regime, but what he accomplished in his lifetime should also be recognised. Nelson Mandela was known as a terrorist, participating in terrorist organisations that killed people by lighting rubber tires on fire on their necks, but he was remembered for his vital role in overthrowing apartheid.

You don't have to like Fidel Castro, but there are plenty of reasons to be sad about his departure. He was the last among the most significant figures of the Cold War, and with him, goes a part of humanity's overall history.

I truly don't believe in the mentality of "needing to break some eggs to make an omelet". I'd think that most people who think of Castro in a positive light would believe in that motto. It's just a differing of morals.

Fidel Castro was important to the history of the cold war,for the history of the 20 century and for humanity. I think he was a bloody person but he did many good and important deeds for Cuba before going insane, including the revolution.Unfortunately " or you die as a hero or you live long enough to become the Villain. "I Don't like him,but he was important.

There were a lot of people in history that aren't worth celebrating, but you still gotta respect respect the fact that the guy (along with many, MANY others before and after him) for being one of those game changers.

His actions rocked the course of history. Some of them had indirect effects on the world, while others were more direct. His existence influenced the creation of quite a few things big and small, and in general, he contributed to the world and helped lay the bricks to our current future, no matter how small those bricks were.

At the very least, he lived one hell of a crazy life, and to witness so much in his lifetime is more than most people probably ever will.

He started out life a good person, turned into an asshole later in life, and upon dying.. I'm not sure if he died an asshole or redeemed himself before death, but hopefully he had enough time to contemplate his choices in life before he withered away into the dark, discovering what lays on the other side.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

The weird part is that the last remnant of the Cold War is now over.

I am not a liberal, though, so I'm afraid your confirmation is incorrect.
