Trust me it was like .3 seconds with three warning and unless you wanna talk .00 then ya its instant

Further information since OP failed to provide it: This is due to clicking the alien sprite with your item, rather than moving left/right/up/down and bursting the normal way. It's instant single click burst. It can be avoided by simply not trying to eat concious hosts.

Litearlly any item with force.
I gather that you slashed him a lot first, That means he was in pain, pain means you get adrenalin and get up from stuns faster, Including but not limited to fast enough to smash the hugger off your face before it eggs you.

Well I once had a machete in hand and either one or two and bursted out of a ancient spitter real quick. (Ancient spitter was real salty in dead chat btw)
