Zahn-Teer (Grand Requiem)

Post by Imperator_Titan » 11 Nov 2017, 17:37

Byond ID:
Imperator_Titan

Marine Name (so we know who you are; if you play alien mostly, state that here):
Ed Trevor/Gage Baldwin

Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name):
Zahn-Teer

Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?
Yes I am.

Character background (An ADEQUATE description and story of your predators background):

Clan History:
► Show Spoiler
Early Life:
► Show Spoiler
The Hunt:
► Show Spoiler
After the Hunt:
► Show Spoiler
How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator)?

I intend to play my Predator as more of an up-front and religious predator instead of the more traditional observant method of doing so. This'll be slightly similar to the play-style described by Karmac, for I too believe that Predators should make their presence known however, at the right time. I also intend to use the plasma-caster and cloak sparingly. More importantly, instead of the traditional decapitate and claim your prey as a trophy almost immediately after the kill, I intend to gather up my victims, xenomorphs and marines alike and claim them as trophies together, in a sort of ritual/religious fashion.

Why should we whitelist you?

I'm a long-term player of CM whom many recognise. I tend to RP to the best of my abilities and I believe that I've overcome my past of a shitter and have matured enough for this role. I believe that I can add to the RP of the server as a predator as much as I'm able to. I used to be a massive fan of the Predators in general and I used to read-up on them quite a lot, after I found out that there was a Predator role here, I've been aspiring to obtain it ever since. I'd like nothing more than to be able to put my wishes into motion with this.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?
Nope.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
Not to my knowledge.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?
Indeed I do.

I've known Trevor for a long-long time, in fact I introduced him to SS13 and I can safely say that while he used to be quite the shitler back in the days he's matured now and from my experience has been really fun to play with, I especially like his gimmick of proving who's the better Ed between us two whenever we're marines, Story was decent although the pred being a loner is a bit overdone I can safely give him my +1.

Ed is a great role player, and a very robust player. I would definitely love to see Ed as a Predator I've known him for quite a while and can safely say I trust him with the role of Predator. The application has obviously had tons of time spent on it, and the quality shows this. I hope you'll join us on the hunt hero.+1

I'll sort this into categories.

1. Personal experience with the player:
You're a regular and, according to what you said in the app, a reformed shitter. I've seen you a lot, but rarely have I actually interacted with you so this section is mostly going to be a resounding neutral. Activity in game is good, at least, as is forum post count.

2. The story:
The lore is fine, the content is interesting, the effort clearly visible. Unfortunately, the delivery is subpar. Formatting is a bit chunky and overall the story lacks a smooth flow, and it reads as if you spent a lot of time cutting and replacing parts to improve them but forgot to smooth over the connections of the replacements. However, it is foolish to expect a degree in English for a videogame whitelist, so I have no trouble letting this pass.
As for the content, I feel like my big problems were explained but I just couldn't figure out what you were actually trying to say with the aforementioned delivery impeding my understanding. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Edit: After I posted this, you mopped it up a lot more and I like it. Even though I already gave my plus one, the story is much better now.

3. The playstyle:
Kinda meh. Sparse use of plasmacaster is something already done regularly and sparse use of cloak has been done before. The bit that interests me the most is that you plan to gather up the corpses of what you kill. You didn't say in the playstyle that you'd pray while encircled by them, but you did in the story and if you plan to do that I like the idea. If you don't, you're basically just taking trophies in a different way.

4. The reason for being whitelisted:
I mean, pretty much exactly as expected from any applicant. These answers across applications are usually the same.

5. The verdict:
Eh, sure. The app shows effort and I saw fairly high-quality content in the places I could understand it, and even though you're basically just a normal pred besides your peculiar method of trophy gathering I think you're capable of handling it. I'll give a tentative plus one here unless I see something in game, in this thread, or in the discord that changes my mind (unlikely, given that I'm a bit burned out at the moment).

To start this off, Trevor is great, i've always had good RP with Ed, and Gage too. One of the best commanders in my own opinion. You may have been a shitter or something in the past but you've proven yourself to be pretty mature now.

Onto to the application itself. I quite like the backstory with Zahn's father being an elite, something he would have had to aspire to if Dto wasn't exiled. As for the whole "other yautja mock Zahn" thing, its something I haven't read before and I feel like it could be an interesting thing to have another yautja do ICly, even if Zahn doesnt react to it. The clan considering their entire life as one big hunt, while it slightly feels like this is how most yautja are anyways, it's stated that that is part of your clan traditions, also I'm glad you edited it to make it a bit more clean as well. We've gotten a recent influx of religious predator apps lately so I can't really comment too much on that. A slight tendency to respect humans, not too odd but most yautja don't respect any humans unless they proved themselves, but you already know that, I'm sure. The hunt itself was generally okay, even well written, but one thing, Zahn's wounds feel like their just cosmetic, nothing severe which it slightly sounds like they were more than just a tiny scratch. The two fellow hunters dying so fast sorta reminds me of AVP, unironically.

The playstyle is fine but if you cloak and use your plasma-caster rarely, you won't have a good time, as they are one of the few tools that will save you from swarms of alien and marine alike. Overall the playstyle is interesting, gathering up the bodies of the prey to ritualistically take trophies I like it.

Gonna have to go with a pretty hefty +1, I know you can handle being a predator.

This is a solid and well written app. I believe that the few areas are poorly communicated but that's fine.

Your intended playstyle isn't too different from standard predators. I do like the idea of hoarding full bodies instead of butchering or just their skulls. This definitely could lead to some unique moments when or if marines find out you've been hunting them.

Given this app I feel that you could pred competently.

I feel comfortable offering a +1 here. Good show.

Thanks for the +1, I'll try not to disappoint ya. For the playstyle, I intend to do exactly what you said, as in standing in the middle with all my victims around me and then pray while being encircled by them. And yeah, I kinda spent all of my time looking over the Hunt paragraph, not to mention that I wrote the Early Life paragraph a day prior, which ultimately ended up conflicting with the story. Good thing I noticed it before it was too late to change it. Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback Donable. To address some of your concerns, I intend to use the cloak and the plasma-caster in situations like those, I didn't say that I wouldn't EVER use them. For the cosmetic concern, I can see where you're coming from but Zahn-Teer's added strength does increase his pain tolerance by a little more, not to mention that Yaujta are already extremely-pain tolerant.

I’ll be damned. It’s not often I say this, but I have seen a great deal of Ed Trevor in-game and I can say I’ve always enjoyed my experiences with him. Of the marines that I recognise off the top of my head, he’s definitely one of the most prominent.
Now, for the character section; I’ll say right off the top that I like the tone you’ve set for your clan. They are unique enough to be interesting, yet it is not done to the point of entering OC snowflake territory. The relationship between Zahn-teer and his father also touches upon territory many other applicants refrain from without becoming tacky. There’s just the right amount of spice in my books.
The story itself has both its strengths and flaws. It definitely kept me interested all the while, curious to see how it would pan out, and demonstrated a necessary understanding of the lore. Though it may have edged toward the ‘generic’ territory by having Zahn-Teer be the lone survivor of his Blooding Ritual, I must say I enjoyed the tale and its execution nonetheless. I can’t recall ever seeing an applicant’s yautja saved by one of their hunt-brothers, even if at a cost.
The remaining sections are fairly pleasing overall, and fill out what I believe to be a very strong application in general. I’m more than happy to give this one a +1, and hope to see great things come about.
