Va-Bha'ja-Al’Thun ‘Radiating Pride’

Post by Cpkeyes » 08 Sep 2017, 22:23

Byond ID: Cpkeyes

Marine Name (so we know who you are; if you play alien mostly, state that here): Tabatha 'Tabs' Cody/Lauyrn Cody

Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name): Va-Bha'ja-Al’Thun ‘Radiating Pride’

Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor? Yes. A short summary
-Worthy prey (armed humans, xeno's etc etc Basically anyone that has shown lethal intent) are to be attacked without cloaking or the plasma caster. In fact, you can only use the plasma caster on unworthy prey. Innocents or dishonorable prey are to be simple disabled or left alone.
-If a human has shown that they are worthy enough, they can be challenged to an honor duel. Only you can challenge a foe to an honor duel, not the foe. You are to fight the duel with the utmost honor, even if it is to the death. Make sure to give your opponent a weapon to use in the duel and if they grant mercy to you at any point in the hunt, you shall grant them a trophy and inform your fellow hunters of their victory. Unworthy prey are not fit for a duel, nor is fighting one on one against an opponent an honor duel.
-Don't kill another hunters prey. Only assist them if they absolutely need it. Stealing another kill in their hunt is a great insult worthy of death and a stain on both of our honor. I am only to prevent anyone else from interfering from their hunt. Be they a humans friends or the hive mates of a serpent.

Character background (An ADEQUATE description and story of your predators background):In the cold and vacant hallways aboard the great mother ship floating in the dark void of the cosmo’s was I born among hunters. I am told that that once I emerged from my mother’s womb, I let out a victorious roar filled with pride.

Years later I stood among the pyramid of my ancestors, a sight that caused my heart to swell with great pride even in the cold rain that ran down my skin. The thought of standing among such history, the final resting place of great hunters that had hunted with both great honor and skill caused me to nearly cry.

That day I knew I would be buried among them.

The clan elders nodded at me before shimmering into nothing. No words were necessary, for we both knew our duties and the importance of what was to follow.
Today I would prove I was worthy of becoming Blooded, even in death.

A familiar hiss cut through the damp air as the serpents crawled their way down into the pit. I must admit that even to this day, the serpents cause a certain tingle of fear to shoot down my spine. It is not a fear that brings cowardice. It is a fear that brings respect. The serpents are worthy foes and prey. They know no mercy, no compassion and are willing to throw away their lives in defense of their hive.

I must remain cautious. Pride will only get me killed. Remember those words

Combistick at ready, I awaited the first serpent to make their move. One, a drone I believe, attempted to lunge at me but, perhaps by sheer luck, I managed to strike the smooth carapace that protect the drone’s head, killing the beast.

Stepping to the side as I threw the serpents corpse to the ground, another one hissed and attempted to claw at me but was swiftly dispatched.

I had grown careless through. As I dispatched another serpent with a throw of my combistick, I noticed too late the serpent, a warrior, behind me. It forced me to the ground, readying the killing blow.

I struck blind with my wristblade, preparing for death.

I heard a gurgling sound as I felt the serpent’s body go limp and fell to the side. I roared in triumph, greeted with the barbs of a serpent tail shot into my side.

The pain thrilled me.

---
Trenchcoat waving in the wind and revolver in hand, Rajinder traced the luminescent green blood down into a dark alleyway, but soon he found what he was looking for.

The giant beast, a creature of an unknown species, that had murdered more people than Rajinder would dare think of, laid wounded at his feet, propped up against a wall as it wheezed its last few breathes.

He cocked his revolver and aimed at the creature's head. His finger began to squeeze on the trigger he felt a nudge on his leg.

The creature was trying to hand him something. Against his better judgement, he decided to play the creatures game and reached down.

It was a old M4A3 and a note. Rajinder’s pale eyes went wide and he broke into a sprint in the opposite direction once he realized what the note said.

Run.

How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator)? One that believes he is destined to be remembered among his clan as one of the great hunters. He tends to favor attacking serpents over humans and has grown to trust in his combistick and wristblades. Through he is not afraid of using other weapons if needed. If he does run into humans, he just decloaks, roars or thumps his chest and then cloaks while doing the predator equivalent of a chuckle. He tends to go off alone, wanting to find his own glory, through is willing to listen to other hunters and especially Elders.

He considers hunting humans to be a waste of time or at most a side activity. Not a true hunt. If humans have for some reason made themselves his prey. He likes messing with them. For instance, he will throw the heads of their dead (The ones he killed of course) into the middle of their squad or at them to make them panic and start making mistakes. If he's feeling particularly cunning, he'll wound one and use them as bait.

Why should we whitelist you? I like to believe that I am a good RPer and not a complete and utter asshole.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? No, I do not know if I have any notes.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? No

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor? Yes

The application could use some more work, but I enjoyed the story, and I know Cpkeyes, Scrubaverse as he's known in the discord to be a respectable player who asks a lot of questions.

Short and to the point, though it could try exploring Va-bha'ja 's personality, I think the story is the best part of this application.

This is a good draft, and I would support seeing him hunting with us. +1

Huh, apparently you can't edit after a day or two.

I was gonna to add to the fact Va tries not to kill women. If only has a form of population control. The key word is try.

Just a note that I kinda feel your activity is low and would advice you do some research (More never hurts). I personally feel that women are warriors in their own right and predators have large varieties of opinions on them in general. Some will judge them as prey, others as weaklings while some will even consider them greater threat due to the effort they must place to place themselves at the same level if not above of other hunters. Overall, I feel like having population control as a form of denial for that is shallow and the classic "Women are meager preys" is a better excuse to this cause.

Overall, I can't entirely review your app with the time I have at hand, but I hope this insight on your post gave you some reflection for the course of your application proceedure. If anything, do please review the predator movies and upgrade your activity... It never hurts to be known for who you are, moreso if you're a nice person ^^

Good luck!

PS: I would naturally -1 people under 50+ post, I just don't feel like their involvment is large enough for the role and it's really easy to obtain in general imo. I won't do that, but know that I normally would.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I am a active in the discord and game. Just because I don't have many posts on this forum doesn't mean I am some random who just sprung out of nowhere.

Also, that's my hunters opinion on the matter.

I don't say you're inactive, you may be very active as a whole like I've been before on the server prior to me joining the forums. I just say you're not INVOLVED with the forum activity.

Pred players generally review quite the quantity of stuff (Or are asked to) and are to stay active on the forums somewhat.

That's mostly why I say that.

The story is rather low quality. It doesn't convey much to the reader, it's short, and the constant spacing between sentences instead of paragraphs is aggravating. There's not much story itself, either. It's mainly combat focused, which means nothing, in regards to stories. What matters is setting up your character, which you haven't really done here.

The playstyle isn't really much of anything, either. It's very basic, and doesn't try to do anything interesting or new, besides ignoring humans as hunting targets.

-1. App felt rather low effort and could be improved. The forum history is bad, and while you might be active on the discord and server, forum activity is supposed to be a requirement for predators. While it can be improved, you need to be active and invested in the community.

Funnily enough, I was gonna add new stuff and edit the story,,,only to find to my bemusement that I couldn't.

The format of the story was me basically trying something new, that and with my characters I tend to make them as I go along. Me trying to make long and extragevnt apps just stops me from actually doing it I find. That and my hatered for apps.

But that you for the comment.

Protip for the future:
You're fully able to start making an app inside a certain post or local document, then you can build it up further to improve the quality and be able to proof read it on each pass.

That's a small way of doing it, I've seen many preds do that in the past to get accepted and it generally works. As long as you're able to push some efforts into it and know what you're talking about ^^

Wish you luck as always, have a nice day.

This are a few tips for a pred app to be accepted:

1) Participate a lot more on the forums, let people know your CKEY, make a profile pic and a good signature. +200 should be a good post amount.

2) Play marine a lot, with a static name. Go SL / Medic or Enginner since these roles tend to give you popularity (good or bad so watch out) Make a name of yourself.

3) Create a good short story about your predator, do it outside of the forums and add a little everyday, don't rush to make everything the same day.

4) Be original. all predators must be in nature stalkers, honorable, fearless and ruthless. Add some quirks to it, some flaws, make it more 'human' in a sense.

Follow these steps and you'll get accepted, I assure you. Good luck my friend.
