Byond ID: Fortport
Marine Name (so we know who you are, if you play alien mostly, state that here): I have been playing alien more often than not, lately. I do have a marine named Bruce Zallack, though.
Name of the character you want to be whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name): Nraquib Nanku Ki'cte, Nraquib "Alive Enough."
Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?: I'll be honest, I was never into the movies or books. Ever since I've considered applying, I have referenced the code of honor several times. Hopefully, that's enough to get me by. I can keep trying to solidify them in my memory if this is accepted.
Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predator's background): Nraquib Nanku Ki'cte, formerly known as just Nraquib. For the majority of his young life, Nraquib was considered too timid and weak by his kin because of his "lack of motivation" and "desire to do what is necessary." Maturing into an adult was difficult for Nraquib, and his childhood acquaintances eventually became his rivals. Even his father, distant as he was, doubted his son's mettle. When he and his rivals came of age, it was definitely time to prove themselves to their parents and the elders. One evening, as he plucked the large turnips from his mother's garden, he was finally faced with his greatest nemesis.
After all of these years of putting up with insults and slander, Nraquib snapped and decided to settle this just like his father would. He firmly grabbed the other youngster's shoulder when they got in his face with the usual insults and slander, shoving him back and out of the garden. Thrilled by the idea of legally killing the yaujta he hated the most, the bully re-entered Nraquib's personal space to fight to the death.
The duel was long and vicious. After a slugging match, which he was initially losing, the bully got knocked down to the ground. Nraquib straddled his long-time adversary and proceeded to choke them out with a turnip, simultaneously strangling them with his other hand until their larynx collapsed, and they suffocated. Word spread fast about what happened, and the elders summoned him for an audience. The young yaujta was commended for his unexpected bravery and given a new name, as well as the offer to become a hunter. From now on, Nraquib would be known as Nraquib Nanku Ki'cte, "Alive Enough."
How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator. This will weigh HEAVILY and frequently breaking from this MAY result in removal)?: I want to play him as a novice hunter, but with a firm grasp on the code of honor. He will not go after prey very often for now, and will be very deliberate when he does. He is open to hunting aliens just as well as humans, and will likely target them a majority of the time compared to the marines.
Why should we whitelist you?: Predators are really scarce and I've noticed that recently applications have been opened. If I can follow the code of honor and roleplay accordingly, players and staff alike might enjoy my presence.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?: Nope.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?: Nope.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?: I completely understand that if I'm added to the whitelist, that I'm not invincible and am expected to roleplay to the standard. Making a grave mistake as soon as I'm given this would mean termination.
As an extra note, I'll repeat that I know very little about the lore. This is a rough application, and I'm absolutely willing to change things or make it more colorful/accurate. Correct me where I'm wrong, and I'll make changes. I also didn't elaborate on HOW he became a hunter exactly, because of the length of the backstory as is. He basically was taken on a hunt with his father, after which he got the dreadlocks and managed to obtain a human trophy.

Re: Fortport's Predator Application
Alright, so my first red flag is basically the application is based on him becoming blooded from killing one of his clansmen for insulting him.
Another red flag was, "I'll repeat that I know very little about the lore."
So from my understanding, you've worded this application that your hunter was a quiet, timid joe who got pissed off and challenged a school-yard bully to a deathmatch. It doesn't represent knowledge of the lore really, which is something you really have to understand to be able to bring the position to life.
Another point i'd like to make, there are an asston of people wanting to become predators. Few will get selected, but a bunch are, so having scarce predators (which are really just random events at this point) isn't very surprising.
If you read up on the lore on the wikis and comics, reapplied, I could see you passing this. Your writing wasn't bad, the intent and story was the part that got me.
Going with a -1.

Re: Fortport's Predator Application
Mmh, I agree with most of what you have said. To me he just didn't murder him, he challenged the guy to a duel and he accepted. When he came back close to fight, that was the deal sealed. But you're right, that's against his personality. The guy should've been spared, their bad history settled finally. I think the elders might've still liked the fact that he stood up to the plate and threw in some punches when that wasn't usually what he did. Deathmatched turned into a fight to settle who is right and wrong.

I think your application shows promise, but I am not certain you really understand what the role is about. This is aside from the lore issues. I'm also not familiar with you, and I think you should increase your forum activity.

Re: Fortport's Predator Application
I'm more of a lurker than a poster. That's asking a lot from me, considering I juggle other hobbies on top of playing this game. The most I can do is play the game more, and MAYBE look up stuff on some wikis. Not to mention just changing the backstory slightly so he doesn't kill the guy. I don't know where to start digging, as the lore on predators and aliens in general seems steep if you've not watched the movies or read the comics. Learning as I play would suit me more, but I understand there's some bare-bone things I've got to be clear on.
As for the role of predators in general, I believe it's to balance matches between aliens and marines while also, possibly, throwing in an interesting turn of events. Mix it up, while not completely dominating the field until SPECIFIC circumstances are met, IF they are.

I've played with FortPort in-game, they were overall an excellent player and personally one of the best Queen's I've seen in a long time. They were also a decent roleplayer and would RP with the nested marines and such. I can't support or oppose the app itself but ONLY because I'm not familiar with the Pred lore. As for FortPort's behavior, THAT I can support.
