Thei-de Yin'tekai (UNBLOODED)

Post by Carprillo » 06 Jun 2016, 22:44

Byond ID: Carprillo

Marine Name (so we know who you are, if you play alien mostly, state that here): Adam Colt, friendly Texan RO (and occasional CL)! There's also Arch "Charm" Iloman, the snarky and potentially mutineering CL. Oh, and Abel Roth, the VERY creepy CL (and surprisingly competent XO/CO!) Until fairly recently, though, I almost ALWAYS played as Xeno. (This is because I left round-start Xeno on in my character preferences, and had no clue that's what was causing it up until about a week ago.) So I might not be SUPER well-known. Hopefully this application's quality compensates for that...please?

Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name):
Thei-de Yin'tekai (Roughly translates to "Honor in Death" in English.)

Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?
Yes, I am. I've spent quite a bit of time reviewing it and making sure I keep the core tenants in mind. There's VERY little chance that I'll breach this code, and NO chance that it will happen knowingly.

Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predators background):

Thei-de was born (in human years) sometime in the 19th century, making him somewhat younger than his clanmates. Still unblooded, he left his planet and brethren at a relatively young age on a small scout ship. He had two other Yautja (read below) accompany him, though one was killed in the Hunt and the other broke off on his own. In fact, the conflict on LV-624 is his first actual Hunt, and that's where his backstory is at the moment. Ultimately, like many of his brethren, Thei-de's actions are guided by honor and glory. His personal goal is not to achieve the rank of Elder, but to die in one final, bloody, fight to the death with an opponent that can match his skill. While this (seemingly-suicidal) drive may factor into his choice of prey, however, it generally won't distract him from the Hunt itself unless death rears its ugly head too late for Thei-de to prevent it. Filled with rage at the death of his kin (well, one of them. Read the spoiler'd part for more on that.), he is utterly ruthless when angry. While his main goal during a Hunt is, SUPPOSEDLY, to kill a serpent and become blooded, it's actually to find the strongest warrior on each side and challenge them each individually. Alone. 1-on-1. Thunderdome style.

Thei-de is perhaps too honorable in that regard, meaning that he'll often prefer to fight his "targets" with no (or very little) armor, leaving them armed with either their sidearm and/or knife, though this doesn't really apply for Xenomorphs.

He relies upon a rather distinct form of hunting, instead preferring to isolate and challenge his prey to a 1-on-1 instead of straight-up killing them. Anyone who willingly stands between him and his target can expect no mercy, and he'll make great use of his technology and weaponry in order to remove them from his path. ("Dishonorable" prey (such as children, non-combatants, etc.) are obviously exempt from his fury in this case, due to the Code of Honor.)

He treats his chosen prey with a moderate level of respect, seeing them as worthy foes that are to be treated with significant honor. If his chosen prey is in imminent danger, Thei-de will even act as a "guardian angel" if it doesn't pose too much threat to him. He's certainly eager about this whole hunting thing, that's for sure.

Honor in Death: Origin (Optional Reading! The above is basically a TL;DR for this!):

How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator. This will weigh HEAVILY and frequently breaking from this MAY result in removal)?

The role I intend Thei-de to fulfill is one of moderate involvement in the conflict. When playing as him, I intend to spend as much time as I can scoping out a "worthy" player (probably a SL or someone who's shown some level of skill). During this time, my plan is to not actively attack anyone unless provoked. I'd also take extreme care not to be noticed, generally avoiding the ongoing battle until I locate the player I wish to fight. I'd be cloaked during this time.

Once I've found my target, I'd follow him as closely as possible without risking detection. As soon as he's alone, I'd incapacitate him (assuming that's a thing Predators can do without causing permanent harm to someone, that is.) and restrain him. Note that any Marines or other hostiles (Xenos, armed Survivors, MPs, etc. etc. that are considered "honorable prey") that stand between me and my chosen target will probably get killed or maimed, but this could be avoided depending on how they react to me.

Afterwards, I'd probably drag him to the my lodge (where I plan to spend most of my time when not actively hunting, in order to keep distant from the rest of the conflict) and engage him in a 1-on-1 fight to the death, using no weaponry (except MAYBE my wristblades depending on how the Predator plays on this server.) and as little armor as possible.

Otherwise, Thei-de would be in the Temple waiting for a good time to go out and practicing with his weaponry, or maybe just doing some passive RP.

TL;DR, I'd not really do much outside my lodge except kidnap some unlucky fucker and drag him back for a deathmatch. However, this could be changed depending on how the round goes and how other players react to me. My hunting style would be obsessive and active, but not quite reckless. Part of Thei-de's character is his dreams of a glorious death, and if I'm cornered, that's exactly how I'd go out.

Why should we whitelist you?

While I'm perfectly aware that I'm hardly known on the forums (though I'm actively trying to fix that), and only slightly more well-known on the server, I feel I have a set of qualities that make me a responsible and trustworthy choice for this whitelist:
  • I'm a serious roleplayer, and won't usually randomly engage combat/kill someone without properly roleplaying through the motions of the confrontation first. (Though this depends on whether or not THEY do likewise. If they just start shooting at me for no reason, I won't have time to RP it out. As such, well, you can probably guess what would happen.

I've held several relatively high-importance whitelists on various other communities before, be they RP-based or more combat-oriented. I know they're unrelated to CM, but I believe that they do demonstrate that I am responsible and fair with my whitelists, and that I don't abuse them. (If you'd like to know which games/whitelists specifically I've had, let me know and I can PM you my "resume".)

One thing I've noticed while observing Predator rounds is how much more interesting and varied they are. See, a lot of people shit on Predators because "they only choose one side", which simply isn't true. I've seen some interesting side-switching with Predators, and it keeps the round lively and fun. I'd like to be part of that. As unlikely as it seems, part of my motivation legitimately is to make the rounds more fun for everyone else. I have a feeling it'll make them more interesting than if I just sat around as an RO or CL, at least, which is what usually happens (and why I'm not very well-known on the server/forums).
Really, though, there's not much more I can add to this. I'd like to think the effort I put into this application demonstrates the amount of effort I intent to put into this whitelist itself. I know that I'm not particularly well-known on the forums or, really, on the server. I expect plenty of people to -1 this because they don't know who I am. And there's no hard feelings. But I felt I should at least try to compensate by making a good application.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?

I have not been banned at all from the server, at least not that I know of. Certainly not within the last month, if memory serves.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?

I don't think so, nope. If I am, well, it's not a server I've ever actually been on.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?

Yes, and I think this is a perfectly fair and suitable punishment. I mean, the CoH is basically the defining part of the whitelist and how it's played. So.

So, there it is. My (probably insufficient) Predator application. I'll probably make more individualized stories for the three Yautja at some point, but in the meantime...

Feel free to give me some advice on how to improve it, throw in some constructive criticism, or just ask questions if anything confuses you!...which is actually fairly likely because I was really nervous typing this up.

Neutral for now.
Great application, but I have no clue who you are. Though I think I might have seen you in game at one point. You're obviously very literate, but it's hard to really recommend someone for the role when you don't know how much they know about CM. As a side comment, kidnapping marines and dragging them places is very difficult, and you really shouldn't base your hunting style around that.

You should of waited before applying.

You're far too new of a player right now.
I'll get back to this in a few weeks.

Ah, alright.
I'll rethink that part a bit, then.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's been over an hour.

Further feedback needed from the Predator Community.
This application will either be denied or accepted by the end of this week.
