Computer Repair Simulator

Post by Nightcaper » 04 Apr 2017, 10:48

So on my path of study to becoming a sysadmin (System Administrator), I found that having something to practice what I'm learning besides a real computer would give me more confidence when I do the real thing. It's been hard finding a simulator for repairing PCs in that regard of sysadminning, but more recently this came out as an alpha, promising in the future to release a commercial full version.

Gotta state again, it's an ALPHA, and proof of concept. Controls feel weird, menus are a tad wonky, if you skip ahead of the training tutorial it will bug out, there's only so many problems it has for you to solve... but at the same time it's really neat the direction it's going in. I could see this training the next generation of PC techs once it's finished.

What do you guys think?

Hey Nightcap er

You are on the right path. I am a game developer and also live and breathe the technology industry. I work for a major telecom company and design systems for military, command and control, data centers, and commercial. This game will be a simulator to experience these things and you will be doing missions that require you to monitor the environmentals, while working with residential, commercial and enterprise hardware (kvm, fiber optics, copper cable, networks, streaming, servers, etc...), and yes you will learn about computers too along the way.

The game will provide both reside tial and commercial problems you will need to resolve while using the latest industry standards.

The game will also cover industry standards and common practices used in the field.

I released the Beta on April 5th but it is only the game foundation to make sure it worked on other systems. There will be another release shortly thay will begin running gameplay.

Thanks for your support.

I usually keep monitoring the feedback, its the only way to get the project right. I am pretty excited for it too. Even though it is called Computer Repair Simulator, it won't just be messing around with computers and laptops, you will be able to do so much more with the peripherals and data lines that interconnect to computers / servers.

Some scenario concepts that are being worked on are:
-setup home wifi
-setup a TV with a set top box
-run copper cabling and coax in houses
-cable termination / testing
-using operating system functions such as gpedit, regedit, msconfig, and many others

After you complete the scenario, you should be more educated in that area and "should" be able to go do it on your own. Yes it is a game, but it should also be viewed as a learning tool.

If you have any scenario ideas, or things you would like to see, just let me know.
