Re: CM Staff Dwarf Fortress
So if it's already passed onto Spooky then how did year 1 go?
Also what happens when the fortress falls before everyone has had a go?

Re: CM Staff Dwarf Fortress
Finally after months of walking and sometimes swiming (still find water quite disgusting) we arrived to the promised land.
I have told the little arsholes to quickly start diggin choppin and collectin herbs what else was i supposed to do eh.. i ordered the woodcutter guy to go and chop every tree he sets his eye on since fock elfs and miners to dig out some fancy courtyard around which we can build walls later on to have a nice defensive base open air pasture and place for some outside farmfield since who the fock wants to eat only moshrooms.
Dwarven Fortress is only as good as it's Tavern so after the miners finished diggin up the cortyard i ordered the arsholes to dig out some nice meetin hall with hospital space for drunk/crippled/lazy dwarfs north east of meetin hall and space for water cistern south east of meetin hall.
There is too many jobs and me dorf are not making it ... we may need to slow the fock down or wait are these MIGRANTS? FOCK ME EYES
The work is finally progressing nicely the arshole migrants and the arshole first settlers are workin their arses off i made the dig up some farms and built Still since we ran out of booze like a fockin month ago and i can't stand the focking water. Also told em to dig some space for trash since i dont want to step on rotting rat 50th time.
WAIT FOCK MY MIND? Did that mason just went into transe i cant believe my dwarven eyeholes he did!
HOLY FOCK! He kept hauling boulders for two months... strong willed that one he is starting to look thin like a fockin ELF he hates ELFS that ladies and gallies is what i call a FOCKIN dedication! Oh looks like he is startin to work.
FOCK!
FOCK!
FOCK!
THE BUGGER ACTUALY DID IT! He dedicated it to some focking usseles ancestor of his but who gives a SHAT! GENUINE FOCKIN ARTIFACT
FOOOOOCK!
Now even a child can focking make an artifact what focken age we live in... HE WANTS WHAT?
I AINT SLAUGHTERING MY FAVOURITE DONKEY FOR THIS SHAT
ALLRIGHT while i wait for the child to starve to death i may as well get the lazy arsholes to work. First we will need some hen thing ya know for fukken eggs. And also with the might of dworfen engineerin ill get some poor fuck to dig a cannal to the river so i can fill the damn canister.
The arsholes are bugging me for a place to sleep BUT FOCK YOU does our shit thats still outside have fokken place to sleep? NO IT FOCKIN DOESNT SO DIG ME UP SOME STORAGE YOU LAZY BUGGERS
AH STOP BUGGIN ME ITS WINTER AND I DONT GIVE A SHAT WHERE YA SLEEP HOW ABOUT YE SLEEP IN THE DAMN MEETIN HALL NOW THAT ITS DUG OUT... also fock when will the engineer finish the LEVERS for the damn dam
Well at least you lazy focks finished diggin and smoothing out the cistern... NOW I WOULD FILL IT WITH WATER BUT FOCK THE WINTER ARRIVED...
Now what FOCK A CARAVAN how do they arrive so fockin early ... it took us fokken years to get here BUT THAT MAY JUST FOCKIN BE MY SENSE OF DIRECTION
SPRING IS HERE AND I DON'T GIVE A SHAT ANYMORE, I AM STEPPING THE FOCK DOWN MAY THE NEXT POOR BUGGER TO TAKE CARE OF THIS FOKKEN PLACE ENJOY IT.

Spooky says they are too busy at the moment to do their turn and have passed the save on to me. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet -- gonna fire it up tonight and get cracking with Year 2.

I think that's rather obvious. One day I've noticed daughter of my captain of the guard talking to her friend...

Re: CM Staff Dwarf Fortress
First of Granite, year 251
I've been appointed overseer charged with getting the workshops running smoothly, finishing off the projects of my predecessor and getting the living situation more comfortable. With one whole year to spend, this should be fairly easy.
I am Bronimin Inkjade, manager of the Solitary Wheel
https://prnt.sc/jb7m2q[
Supported by my beautiful and ever faithful wife Rimtar Lancepriced
http://prntscr.com/jb7mv1
============================================
First of all, the bedrooms are designated and Stakud gets to work digging them out while the other miners chip away at the magnetite deposit at the back of the stockpile room. Each floor of the shaft will have up to two noble/overseer quarters and 16 regular or 24 high density living quarters.
https://prnt.sc/jauggr
For now, only two floors have been designated.
Second priority, the workshops on the surface need to be moved indoors where it is safer and not raining. Since the miners are busy, I don't bother making any more workshop space and simply repurpose the storage areas. This only takes a few months to complete.
https://prnt.sc/jb7wv8
It's a bit cramped, but that will be someone else's problem to fix later. For now it is sufficient:
Two carpenters, two craftsdwarfs, three masons, two wood furnaces, one jeweller, a mechanics, clothier, soaper and ashery workshop. Across the hall, two smithies with one metalsmith's forge and plenty of space to expand operations. All fed by quantum stockpiles which shouldn't need any upkeep to keep running.
While this is being done, the child on the hill finishes his artefact in the rain: a dog bone cage.
http://prntscr.com/jb7rb7
http://prntscr.com/jb7r4t
He is told to get inside and his workshop is deconstructed.
On the cistern, it seemed Beoni had intended to simply channel open a tunnel from the river and into the cistern once it was all smoothed down. However, this would have flooded the fortress as soon as we meant to tap it.
http://prntscr.com/jaukk4
I tell the gatherers and fisherdwarves to get smoothing. I experiment with the water supply, but I cant find any elegant means to fill the cistern, so I just build a manual pump and set one of the miners to task. It will need manual refilling every few years -- don't let water be drawn from the last layer or else it will be muddy.
http://prntscr.com/jawon1
Elves show up armed with shrieking music and one particularly angry caged mosquito.
http://prntscr.com/jauvng
They don't look very pleased about the devastation
http://prntscr.com/jauz52
But all they brought is flutes and wooden crap so sod what they think. The mosquito was tempting, but Beoni didn't want to seize it and I'l be damned if I give those fruits dwarven mechanisms!
Migrants arrive while the elves are seiging our ears with their flutes and violins and almost double our population from 21 to 37. The Still runs out of barrels at the same time -- the carpenters didn't enjoy being told they had to make another 100 pieces of furniture before they could rest.
And there's no skilled dwarves among the new arrivals, save for one legendary bone carver. That makes two (we already had one) with not a single bone between them. I set a few to join the mining division as soon as our smithies finish with their picks but only lightly touch the rest of their labors. More bedrooms are designated to be dug out.
https://prnt.sc/jaxaeu
And we had just finished the first floor. Marked is Beoni's quarters and you can see the filled cistern there as well off to the side. Beoni had also commissioned a masterpeice statue of himself to decorate his room with:
http://prntscr.com/jax9uw
I suppose he goes to sleep with it watching over him.
A second bout of inspiration produces this marvel:
https://prnt.sc/jax1e6
https://prnt.sc/jax1q8
I have no idea where they are getting all of these bones from. Anyway, with that Asmar becomes our third legendary bonecarver and is told to go right back to work making booze.
And to close the summer season, my wife gives birth! Today is a glorious day. She is Unib Scrapesword and she is beautiful.
http://prntscr.com/jawpuz
http://prntscr.com/jb85xk
More migrants come (I thought that there was only supposed to be one of these waves every year?!) and more bedrooms are dug out. We are housing 56 dwarves now. More shafts are designated in haste-- the carpenters and masons are working overtime to produce enough beds, doors and decorative pieces to furnish the living spaces. With all of the extra hands, steel production also gets going, though I haven't yet designated anything to be done with the bars.
I swap the hospital and the meeting hall since the hospital needed the freshwater access and the new dining room/ tavern is quickly constructed, smoothed and engraved by our army of migrant workers.
http://prntscr.com/jb8q11
Immediately, guests show up and begin petitioning to stay and slay monsters in the underground below. Were they wawiting on our borders for us to build the tavern? Terrifying.
http://prntscr.com/jb8qe9
http://prntscr.com/jb8quz
http://prntscr.com/jb8r0u
Thier success is... mixed.
Note to my predecessor: dwarves have been burrowed to prevent them from going into the caves to collect webs while allowing the visitors to go down as they please. The entrance into the cavern is in one of the coal mines in the hills to the west.
Visitor bedrooms have been dug out but furnishing them is a low priority.
http://prntscr.com/jb8rvs
The liason arrives with the yearly dwarven caravan, along with more migrants! They spot our first hostile invader. Just a gremlin, but it'll be reporting our location to its goblin allies soon for sure! I am leaving the assignment of these migrants to the next overseer, we are up to 66 dwarves now from 21 when I was given command.
http://prntscr.com/jaymip
No, wait. Make that 65:
https://prnt.sc/jb0mus
The blacksmith had been possessed and was ranting about thread. He wouldn't take the pig tail or cave spider silk that we had collected, alas. He snapped minutes after the previous picture and went berserk, putting four other dwarves in the medbay before being put down.
And that wraps up the year. Winter comes and goes with little event -- dwarves focus on hauling things to their place and smoothing down stone where necessary Three more children are born and yet another migrant wave comes though smaller than those before. A detailed stock is taken and Fikod reports we have over 50 barrels of vegetables from the farms and over 20 barrels of drink which should be enough even if the next overseer puts a stop to production entirely. The mason from earlier that Beoni commissioned enters a trance and produces another legendary piece, 'The Straps-System of Comedy' a schist statue:
http://prntscr.com/jb1pss
http://prntscr.com/jb1pzn
It is installed on the main floor. Many rooms are still unfurnished, though I do belive that each dwarf has a bed, at least. Bedrooms can be extended up the central stair so long as there is stone to smooth but can't go much further down without hitting the caverns. Hauling wood is generating a lot of jobs and giving the unskilled migrants something to do, but if you want to stop that you will need to disable wood being stored in the input stockpile of the quantum stockpile (QSP). Since the QSP is infinite, they will haul every log on the map if allowed (though only 6 at a time). Same with the stone stockpile, though they don't seem to fill that one up as fast as the masons and mechanic can deplete it.
I look forward to seeing what the rest of you do with the fortress!
