Twenty years ago, extraterrestrial life had finally come into contact with the human race. This coalition of races united under the mysterious Elders launched a full-scale invasion, decimating Earth's cities and kidnapping all they did not slaughter. However, the world's leaders had been prepared for this eventually, and thus the secretive paramilitary organization known as XCOM was activated. Staffed by the brightest minds in the world and protected by elite soldiers from a myriad of international backgrounds, their task was daunting: Repel the operations of the aliens, and discover a means to defeat them.
They failed, and the free will of the human race died in the smoldering ruins of their mountain base. With their opposition decimated, the alien forces established a new world order. Under the banner of ADVENT, humanity was at last united under the iron fist of the Elders. In time, humanity was reconditioned, encouraged to forget the bloody past and accept their bright future.
Yet in the fringes of civilized society, rumbles of discontent echo from those who have not forgotten the mercilessness of their new rulers. A loose collection of society's malcontents have banded together under a familiar flag: XCOM. Perpetually out-manned and out-gunned, they fight for a free Earth, whatever the cost.
WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?
It's a screenshot LP (let's play) of XCOM 2's War of the Chosen expansion, featuring Colonial Marines from the Space Station 13 and Alien series. I'll be playing on Veteran mode. I'll also be injecting some RP to give the impression of a story between XCOM's brave (?) forces.
A SCREENSHOT LP? ROLEPLAY? WHAT THE HECK???
Video recording is much more work than I want. Screenshots work better for a thread format as I can upload several at a time. As for RP, I've always been a fan of the excellent X-COM: UFO Defense LP, which is a classic even among Firaxis. I wanted to do my own take on it.
HOW THE HECK DOES IT WORK?
I'll be creating characters that people request me to create. In the interest of saving time, I'll only ask that you provide their name (nickname too), gender, preferred class, and a rough idea of what they should look like (IE: "She's got a blonde ponytail and she dresses like a guerrilla fighter"). If soldiers have opportunities to bond with one another, you can specify whom you'd like them to be with. If not, I'll go with what I want.
When it comes time to pick between several missions, I'll be asking you to choose which one I undertake. Yes, you!
BUT ISN'T THERE ANOTHER LP? YOU HACK FRAUD!
Correct.
SQUADS????
Nope.
WILL YOU KEEP TRACK OF ANYTHING IN THE OP?
When this takes off, sure.
HOW ACTIVE WILL YOU BE?
As much as I want to be. This is a side thing I'll do when I'm bored. Expect no schedules, but always expect quality.
HOW HECKIN' GOOD ARE YOU?
Not very.
