Plz help me find new games.

Dunno been in a slump lately looking for games to play. I browse steam and come back bored and emptyhanded because I know I'm just not sure what I want.

Anyone has any good suggestions they'd like to share, my cup of tea is mostly in open world games, I like exploring, and while I enjoy survival I tend to get bored of those.

As far as plots, games like The Saboteur, and Far Cry, where you're pitted against an overwhelming opposition, where I can watch my progress as I fight back against my opponent be reflected in the world around me really tickle my fancy.

I also enjoy strategy games ranging from XCOM to Stellaris to the Total War series, again I like scratching an itch for progression.

This War of Mine also did something because it had that same progression stuff I mentioned on top of an actually incredible narrative and story telling prowess.

If anyone has any suggestions, they don't need to tick all the boxes but a few will make me happy.

I’ve played kenshi off and on since it was first put out there years ago. It’s a hardcore open world top down RPG, but it’s fun especially with mods

Have you ever played x3 albion prelude? That game is open world and you can build from a single ship to a giant empire of battleships and space stations. Its also old so its cheap now. Just don't get x rebirth it blows.

red dead 2 is fun also.

Any paradox games.

4x games are fun like civ, galactic civ, ect.

xenonauts is another xcom game that follows the old ones more closely.

I like fallout 76 but others thing it sucks its open world with light survival.

dwarf fortress is really fun if you can learn it since its pretty high learning curve.

pathfinder kingmaker is a fun game if you like isometric crpgs.

You'd enjoy Mount & Blade Warband most likely, plenty of mods to it as well that can add +1000 hours of extra gametime.

You probably already have it, who doesn't nowadays tbh. Try out Prophesy of Pendor if you do have it.

Other than that you could try out the other 4x paradox games like EU4 or Victoria 2, some of them might have a high-ish learning curve doe.

Otherwise Freelancer with some mods is still fun if people still plays.
Mount and Blade with Floris mod is deep fun too quite a bit repetitive.

You might be interested in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. I've only ever played the first game, Shadow of Chernobyl, but they seem like they'd be right up your alley.

Prophesy of Pendor is indeed legit stuff. It's a fully-realized game, complete with an up-to-date wiki, except it's a free mod. The game will constantly, non-stop try and meme on you, so watch out.

Other than that, Medieval 2 Total War has some lit mods. Stainless Steel, Third Age Total War (with submods), and Europa Barbarorum II are all excellent experiences.

Sunless Sea is also good if you enjoy high quality story telling. Combat and strategy are also present, but story telling is its main strongpoint.

Someone else mentioned Men of War Assault Squad. The Star Wars Galaxy at War mod is great if you enjoy that franchise. It's basically an editor where you can make your own cinematic battles or challenging missions. I made a whole campaign for myself where the player commanded a handful of Imperial Royal Guards deployed in extremis to quell a disturbance in the outer rim.

Oh, and Binding of Isaac Reborn.

Prey, 2017, was a pretty good sleeper hit and effectively System Shock 3. One of the better "new" games I've played in recent times.

If you like XCOM you might enjoy Phoenix Point or Xenonauts which are pretty good and faithful to the isometric classics.
