I dropped out of the hype after the pushback. It's not what everyone thinks it is.

Re: No Mans Sky
I want to be hyped for this, but the internet has given me too many reasons to be cautious of it. I've always wanted a good space sim but this game has to prove to me that there is enough to do to justify the $60 price tag.

Re: No Mans Sky
Honestly, I am surprised. It seems like Hello Games didn't lie much when they were talking about it. The planets are beautiful, despite all of them being different. The reviewers talking about the survival aspect are stupid. This game would be boring if there weren't survival aspects, everyone would race to the center without stopping for supplies, but everyone has to stop to get minerals for their ship, armor, or for money. The only problem I have with the game is the small inventory space. I wish they would've let you start with more inventory space, but I understand their reasoning.

Re: No Mans Sky
The inventory space is agreeably annoying, what I'm mostly disappointed about is the statistical impossibility of actually meeting people in the game. I was hoping they'd spawn players more in clusters, but that didn't seem to happen. See you all in four months (if that) at the universal center.

Re: No Mans Sky
Honestly, I am quite happy with the way it turned out even on PC. I know there are some bugs, some of which I have encountered myself, but overall, I am pleased with the experience. Hello Games has already stated that they are working on some of the most requested features, and I am sure bug fixes will be released as the game goes on.
I do however feel sorry for the people who read into all the hype and all of the speculation that had no basis in fact on what NMS is about. I think that speculation got around in the main stream articles about the game too, which is why so many people are as disappointed about the lack of PvP right off the bat, and with the bugs that exist.
Objectively, The only information on the game that I allowed myself to read was from the official website, and from official videos about it, because of this, I think they have done a pretty good job delivering on what they said they were going to, a massive, procedurally generated universe with elements of exploration, combat and trade.
One of the most overstated falsehoods of the game is that it is an MMO, which it is not. You discover systems/planets/plants/lifeforms and choose to upload those, when you do, those systems become visible and named for every player who is playing the game. Hello Games has stated that you will be able to meet up with other players, eventually, even going so far as tracking your friends on the galactic map, but they have also stated that it would be like lobby based multiplayer, when you approach a system with someone who is connected online's presence, you subtly join their 'lobby' which will allow you to see them. They have not specified how many people can be in a single lobby at a time or if multiple instances/lobbies can exist in a system at the same time.
So, I said, overall, I am quite happy with my NMS experience so far, and will be even more pleased when bugs and further features are added (especially Space Freighters, I need moar inventory slots.)

Re: No Mans Sky
I'm definitely enjoying it so far. Possibly my favorite thing about it is how relaxing the game feels. I don't feel the need to complete everything because I can't, there's no competitive aspect to it, and you don't get roflstomped by the game for exploring early on (except dogfights, not even once). I love a good rage inducing shooter or overcomplicated survival game as much as the next guy, but this feels so refreshingly peaceful. Heck, I don't even know if it's possible to crash into anything but asteroids with how the ship seems to be repelled by the ground. Not to mention how breathtaking some of the planets can be or how ridiculous the wildlife looks (I'm looking at you spiky hopping pineapple with your gender listed simply as "radical").
This isn't some minecraft/destiny hybrid like everyone was expecting thanks to the hype train, and it's not something you can play for a week straight without getting tired of the gameplay (for me at least). It's just something to pick up and enjoy occasionally throughout the week.
Something no one seems to be pointing out in all of these disappointed rage threads I've been seeing in other forums is the fact that the game is going to be continuously updated. If you want to compare it to minecraft, you need to take into account that minecraft has been released for years and has been updated throughout that time. Though I do hope they don't patch that bug that occasionally makes lifting off throw you into high orbit in less than a second. It's pretty handy actually, not to mention hilarious.

Re: No Mans Sky
Well, I think I just found the definition of a treasure world.
Welcome to DD1-G2f-4P-BFGU (I know I have a weird naming system).
Now you may be wondering, "What's so great about a bleak planet with sentinels that literally attack you for looking at them funny?"
Well for starters, you can't land anywhere without at least five gravitino balls within walking distance for about 27,500 units apiece.
What's that? You don't think it's worth it to get murdered by sentinels who immediately go into three star alert mode when you pick them up during a blizzard?
Well, I guess you'll have to settle with wandering aimlessly for hours in the caves while trying to find at least one albumen pearl to sell... or not
In addition to this, the planet has emeril, iridium, radnox, and several other mineral types (not to mention liquid water lakes... I don't know how). To top it all off, it has two types of flying fish/eel things.
Needless to say, I'm going to be here for a while. Can anyone top this? Not sure how common this is and I'd honestly love to see something more packed with riches than this place.
