You can be the leader of the Legion force, but otherwise there aren't factions (that doesn't mean that you can't form together into settlements or gangs).

You can be the leader of the Legion force, but otherwise there aren't factions (that doesn't mean that you can't form together into settlements or gangs).

It's hard as fuck to make a gang, i tried having a roommate in my defence building and he ended up killing me after we have made a peace treaty. =/

Only the Legion has such loyalty because they spawn together and everyonen on the server tries to kill you. Anything besides that, don't trust anyone

I was interested in trying this "Fallout 13" server although I do not usually venture outside CM on SS 13.
I spawned in as the only player online and was murdered by a deathclaw right away.
It seems like a cool concept though.

I wouldn't try it. the only one with population right now has it's own ERP mechanics and to be honest, it's pretty much just sex-slaves, random people trying to blow you and just RDM from my own experience.

Whilst it's died down a bit, I've personally had some very fun moments on it. My best experience would had been this:
>I spawn as a wasteland medic without any proper direction.
>I find a raider in a restaurant tidying stuff.
>After a short conversation, I join his cause to serve man meat to the world.
>Many NPC raiders are used to set up the business.
>New businesses (a clinic and a shop) open up near us, forming the town of Tarmac.
>We hire a raider gang to bring us manmeat, including our one off special of legion meat (I believe the guy was actually quite a high up officer).
>After two hours of successful business, including me having to chase down some meat when it ran and a small bombing that was too far from the building, we had to deal with a small riot.
>Every rioter was eaten.

Alright, I've played the F13 server post beta or whatever it originally was. So far, it seems that it's fine.

The good:

• Everything's relatively well polished.
• The ammunition system's actually in depth. To elaborate, you can load cartridges/shells into magazines. Now, I haven't read about their code being open source, but if they are, then that means we might have a basis on how to make working magazines.
• More respawn classes. No respawn delay.

The bad:

• Not a lot of RP and opportunities for just talking and emoting and the like.
• Hand-loading magazines is very awkward from what I've seen; .45 cartridges/shells are brought out piecemeal from their ammunition box.
• No dedicated spawn areas for Caesar's Legion and NCR. Have to spawn in God know's where and rally.
• No text reminding the player what role they're playing when spawned in; IE, "Baldie McBaldie's memories: You are a NCR recruit fresh out of California and boot camp. You are expected to follow orders from your superiors and abide by NCR laws and codes. Shoot or capture any Caesar's Legionnaires. And do your best in getting along with the locals."

The worst:
You have nothing to do. This is because no one really trusts each other long enough to RP. Most encounters is just people either keeping their distance/running away or fighting you with superior firepower, such as 10MM SMGs or Hunting Shotguns. And when there is RP, it's just terrible. I've seen regulators, a vigilante cowboy group, going full on serial killer or a random NCR recruit trying to kill another while claiming to be a legionnaire, screaming, "FOR CAESAR'S LEGION!"
Hopefully the devs of FO13 are working on a dedicated PVP or PVE mode in order to itch that murderbone scratch.

It's weird because there are no rules besides "have common sense and don't break immersion", so I've noticed that the admins will occasionally try to bend the rule to force you to play a certain playstyle. I've had RP pushed onto me pretty hard for killing people as a wastelandmedic (who is given no objectives except "survive in the wasteland" and yet is apparently expected to speak to someone before ambushing them) despite the people I killed being raider sorts.

Then later on, I was working in a clinic as the same doctor when someone ran in with jet (meth superspeed effects) and wordlessly shot up the whole clinic, handcuffed people who went into crit, healed them and then raped them in the desert. When I ahelped about it I was told that they were a raider and could do that.

I'm probably not going back to that server.

Same thing for me, I crited a legionare that murdered my captain and sergeant, and put him into a meat spike, to show other legionares, after that, adminbus spawned a "MP" to arrest me, he made a poor judgement, stripped me from ranger rank, promoting the recruit that denounced me. After all that, I killed the promoted recruit because he was abusing my friend, dropping him naked into the desert

The server is a joke, you need to play as raider, get some semi auto guns, kill a ranger, loot his shit and get his armor, then murderbone everyone
