Runners are pretty deadly but there is usually one or two that try to stay young to evolve and then end up dying in a tragic manner.
Troublesome, as usual.

"fight off the runner enough to make it flee" aka landing one single bullet because sticking around after that is suicidal and landing any more shots than that will probably have it in crit.

ive been on the receiving end of runner attacks too, and been the runner doing the attacking, and a sentinel on harm intent using their neurotox to keep the target down is still an even easier way for a t1 xeno player to kill off a lone marine with much less risk

Oh yes. A sentinel. Spit locking is just as simple as pouncing a Marine and using tacklespam. Misto. No. It is not. Risk is still apparent but at the same time, that's the point. It's supposed to be risky.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

spit locking is easier than pouncing a marine and using tacklespam because runner pounces barely keep marines down a significant amount of time anymore, you need to find the correct pixel to click on in the split second your sprite is standing on top of him to try to tackle or he's back up and running again, and tackles can miss. if the neuro hits you know youve got him locked in and can scratch away freely and middle mouse click to keep him down easy. the only advantage runners have is in running away fast if more marines walk up on the scene

Oh and being able to hide under stunned mobs and other objects including tables, having a faster click rate, and a pounce that allows them to stun marines and get out quickly when trouble is coming.

Runners thrive on ice planet and big red when it comes to vents and hiding.

Ive taken a few by simply waiting in places like medical or engineering areas when a solo medic or engineer goes scavenging
