Xeno hive locations

Post by TehSpoderman » 11 Dec 2017, 05:37

What locations on maps do you think will be able to hold a Xeno hive? Im gonna exclude LV since you cant even change the hive.

Big Red:

Viro seems possible but it is gonna take alot of effort from ayys.

Mess hall might be possible...? It is gonna be hell to defend it however.

Lambda is top tier hive location. You cant go wrong with it. Go to Lambda if you want to play it safe.

Research is pretty good too. Not as good as Lambda, but its an option.

Ice Colony:

Underground Security is a good place for hiving it up. Lots of rooms you could designate to be egg/host holding room. A bit close to the LZ, however.

Medical is pretty risky if the CO decides to send all marines underground. Its OK if its a normal round.

Research is good too. Its far from ladders (I think) and its far from LZ2. Lots of room.

Caves is a good place if you want to be REALLY far from marines, but it can be difficult to say where in caves you are setting up. Its difficult to communicate in too. No real landmarks.

Tcomms hive is the ultimate cuck. Do this to REALLY annoy marines. Comms are vital for a marines survival.

Hydro is a really eh... place to set up. You only have the big central room to set up in. The rest is either really cramped or you cant even weed (gardens). You can still cover tcomms however so that is a plus.

I dont think I seen people try Dorms yet, so cant give an opinion.

Engineering and Medbay seems like a place you can cuck marines too. Power is not as vital as tcomms, though it is appreciated heavily.

Cant give an opinion on Garage.

Big red north caves now that you can weed there. All offensive lines must come from the south through eva or lambda

Lots of chokepoints going in and lots of room to move for xenos on the inside

I doubt admins will approve mutiny if CO saying "FOB at LZ2" is the marines' only reason to mutiny.

Also, in a recent game saw queen make LZ1 their hive. That was a special game.

I remember back on old lv days when it was only ds1 and the pod. we landed on high pop To find lz1 hived. From some miracle no one opened fire and then some hilarious xeno RP happened. Our SL then proceeded to declare them not hostile.

The whole hive then boarded the dropship and left......leaving about 50 marines stranded and legging it for the pod to get back before the sulaco was lost

These are just my opinion... but they provide phenomenal protection from OB's, flanks, and are hellish fights for Marines.

- Big Red -

Caves south of Lambda
Caves west of Lambda (north of dorms)
Caves east of Research
Caves southwest of Virology

- LV -

Sandstone Temple Hive
Far Northern Caves

- Ice Colony -

Southwestern caves above ground.
Avoid anything underground, it's simply too easy and not conducive for fun for either side.

- Prison -

Limited due to your starting location; but once the persistent lag is sorted will likely be the most voted for map for both sides.

an unfortunate thing can happen if you base in an off-meta location as xenos, the rest may have a hard time realizing it or knowing what you mean when you talk about it. had a match the other day where people kept referring to lambda on bigred as "the hive" out of habit despite the fact the queen laid down the real hive down south in research, and people were confused and milled around and left a lot of monkeys behind up at lambda. yes, it can happen even when you remind them of the arrow that points the way to the queen, especially if the queen steps outside the hive because they cant even rely on the arrow to bring them home anymore.

spread the word to newbies: use your time as a ghost to familiarize yourself with the maps, its the best way ive found to get an accurate and up to date feel for the layouts
