To spook or not to spook

Post by JennerH » 03 Jan 2018, 08:53

Do you guys prefer to immerse yourself into the xeno role and spook the tallhosts when the opportunity arises, or do you instantly murderize the poor survivors the second you evolve into young runner?

Personally I like to stay right outside their vision and spook the fuck out of them before going in for the kill, or capture if that's possible. When marines are thrown in and shit kicks off this gets thrown out the window, but those first 30 minutes are pretty much the only time you get to xeno RP without straight up murderboning since marines shouldn't know to shoot on sight yet and you can be spooky as hell

Never occured to me, all I think is how to bring them to hive or kill. Might try it sometimes.

i like to be a spooky xenomorph, but the sad reality is, my vent-lurking "*growl" and "*roar"s don't do a whole lot anymore when there's heads being literally chopped off left & right mixed with barrages of gunfire. like by the time i reach survivors especially, there'll already be half a dozen of us breaking into their refuge. it's pointless. the only time i really get to act out my sneaky tendencies is after boarding the Almayer or on Ice Colony, when managing to sneak up underneath a secluded room with a doc/marine locked inside with vent access. it's great when that happens.

it kind of depends on the queen as well. a majority of times the aliens will be pushing out in force after about 15 minutes, in the rare case that a queen prefers to stay passive, and underground, there's a lot more opportunities to be a sneaky cunt.

i like to spook

or playing with your food, where you only slash them once and run, then just peek into their vision every now and then even if they don't have a weapon and then only slash them like once a minute. or until someone else finds and kills them
I play Xeno 99% of the time. All castes.

I like spooking lambda on low pop. Loads of fun.

Problem is the unga dungas almost always make a b line for lambda the second they land so there is no time for spooky buildup

It's fun to have initial encounters like seeing a runner dash into sight and out, and have it roar. Little reason to do it though since marines will just shoot at first sight, I got a taste of that enough myself. Only a risk with little to no reward means the best way you could do it is hide in walls and vents, and give a hiss or two.

I was once roaring and hissing outside of escape pod and breaking windows or some shit, and inside the pod there were two people - doctor and unconscious dying marine on the roller. I hope i gave this doc some spooky immursive moments but metaknowledge of unbreakable pods could ruin it. I also used to hissroar from pipes but the very next thing marines do after that is welding everything so i stopped doing it. Shame

When I go xeno, sometimes I like to tease the marines by making noises, either trying to taunt them or lure them into a trap.

Spooking is fun, but it can also be a tool of manipulation. Marines don't get scared so much as curious, and sometimes you can affect their behavior by making some noise.

Of course, it can also backfire if you happen to lure an entire squad towards you. It is all about situation, really.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

If I find a moment, I try to rp.

Earlier today I found a welded glass door with marines camping out nearby. I started rubbing myself against the window in an "attempt" at opening it.

Failing that, I started poking it with my tail. A marine flipped me off so I mimicked it using my claws.

Ran off again and I found a headless roundstart body, so I dragged it to the window, pointing at it and then at random marines.

Found another body, this time a marine whom I laid on. This was the final straw and they blew the door open with C4.

I died, but it was worth it.
