-New Queen Guide-

Post by Symbiosis » 11 Jan 2018, 14:25

Alright fellow Xeno players. Some of you are newer than others - nothing wrong with a few fresh faces... I'll be doing my best to provide a short and simple guide here to provide new Queens the tools to dominate the Marines and make your Hive a Happy Hive.

Hive Overview and starting out - You'll start with a number of Larva, dependent on server population. It's imperative you move to a suitable location to "sack up" ASAP. You've got a short time before your Hive evolves into T1's and at that point if you're not ovulating you're harming the hive. Most of the locations Queens start at are suitable Hive locations. The only one that may be unwise is Virology on Big Red, even then in the current Xeno-Friendly atmosphere it should be suitable.

Tools - Your primary three tools outside pheromones will be healing your Xenos, De Evolving Xenos that disobey your orders, and observation (with zoom out). I encourage you to keep your "Hive Status" window up at all times as a simple left click will allow you to instantly jump to any Xeno.

Heal - Incredibly powerful. For most of your Plasma you can heal a Xeno 1/3 of their health. When fighting begins you'll easily save a majority of your T3 by observe jumping between them and healing them when they're low and retreating.

De-Evolve - Pretty useful in situations where the Hive makeup is threatened by too many of one caste (4 Praetorians and no Boilers, for example) - is mostly used as a tool against Xenos that disobey.

Observation - One of the the most powerful tools. The zoom out feature allows you an incredibly wide field of view on the battlefield. Point out flanks and weak areas to your Hive.

T3 evolutions - You CAN micromanage your Hive now. Is it necessary for success? No. I imagine the Queens that micromanage evolutions heavily are less fun to play under, thus leading to less enthusiastic Xenos and a higher chance for failure.

Final thoughts - The new updates change the hive dichotomy from Meme Screech > Capture/Push to a more distributed power amongst the Hive via pheromones.

Warding - Hands down best for when the Marines are engaging your Hive. Between this and your Heal you should rarely lose a T3.

Frenzy - Situational. Runners make scream for this when they are gathering furry hosts. Good to have the first 3-5 minutes, otherwise the other two pheromones are stronger.

Recovery - Good to have running while waiting for the Marines. Allows drones to build and spread weeds EVERYWHERE. Xenos may screech for this midfight. Don't risk it.

Your biggest threat is getting snuck up on while in sack form. Rarely will such a thing happen due to the large concentration of eggs, etc, by you. Only hop out of Sack Form to call down the DS and MAYBE help with the inevitable SD siege.

Enjoy!

With pheromones you can adjust them to promote certain behaviours, like when you switch you frenzy, order your hive to push as one, like in a wave.

When you switch to recov, pretty much the opposite. Sit tight and heal up. REMEMBER: RECOV WILL LET YOU HEAL MORE XENOS FASTER

For defending or when you're low on xenos, do warding.

just an idea, you could put on frenzy in the beginning few minutes to help everyone gather hosts quicker

then drones can get their precious recovery
I play Xeno 99% of the time. All castes.

I think the queen's warding is way too strong to use anything else than that in any engage.

You didn't mention 'Give Plasma' and the button to assign leadership.

Assigning leadership can be used as a 'favorite', if you're not watching a xeno and click the leadership button it will directly make you observe your leader or if you have more than one it gives you a small list of all leaders for you to select one to watch.

Also a small detail: the queen can watch a xeno by doubleclicking it, it saves having to look for it in a list.

Addition- Drones can give plasma.

Mature and elite drones usually have more than they can use.

The queen can heal ayys for plasma.

Call a drone for a little while.

Pick 1 T3.

Make him NEAR-immune to harm till the plasma runs low. Seriously, you get like 5 heals if you space the plasma transfer right.

And, the heals are almost 1/3 of a T3 life, so they can keep up slashing and doing stuff a good time.

Unfortunately Queen healing and plasma donation has no feedback on the receiving end so the only way xenos know they're being healed is if they are aware of the system.

Yeah, I've been thinking and, some way to notify the target of the healing would be nice.

No feedback, but it's easy enough to tell.

First thing, I am just now reading about this update and from first look I LOVE IT!!

From a xeno main, it would be hella easy to tell you are getting healed/assistance because you keep a side eye on your health/damage being taken.

if queening on LV jungle planet, pick a spot near a tunnel to south of the fog to grow your egg sac to help make the job of retrieving monkeys that much simpler

a queen who acts as a good observer/ squad operator like role really helps the xeno team behave like a real team

These tips are really useful, but for some reason i was expecting something different from this guide, like, Explaining a good playstyle for queen and do not suck.

It's still a good guide tho
