Feeling guilty? I sure do!

Post by Rikman » 02 Feb 2018, 14:41

I was a mature crusher on Prison Station. There is a hallway that we were cut off from some 3 xenos, so I start running down the hall, trampling multiple marines unfortunately in my path.
The screams. The marines were dying as I went and tried another round of crushing. I might have killed some, and they were yelling (I think) about getting the hell out of the way.
Traumatising for me as I crushed all those marines, became the last crusher at round end.
Anyone else feel any remorse about ruining a marines’ life? It may go against our values as aliens, but I felt a little remorse.

I mean ... there is a certain satisfaction ... when you ABSOLUTELY FUCKING STEAMROLL the marines and kill LOADS of them ... but yes, I do feel a little bit of remorse for ending someone's round, that's why I don't really like other SS13 servers, because when you're a traitor, or a target, you LITERALLY have to die, or defend yourself to the death.

It's RNG that selects the targets, but then you have CM ... which completely abandons selective targeting unless a spec or smartgunner or medic is there.

Even then, you have a common enemy, people you can trust, and in SS13, you literally cannot trust ANYONE, and have to rely purely on RNG to:
1: not get selected as a target
2: not get slipped/stunned
3: fight off your attacker
4: have other people not INSTANTLY kill you or condemn you for doing it

When I drag Iridium, Jester, or any other Robust Marine into the darkness I know I've done a wonderful thing for the Hive. I do my utmost to drag them so far away that there is zero chance they'll continue to terrorize the Hive.

I feel guilt and remorse........as a marine, I mean look at it objectively, marines are here to wipe out the locals, and not just imprison or enslave em like your regular livestock, I am talking about total extermination, what for you ask? to take over the planet's resources and protect some fucking shabby back alley company's properties, like the good old capitalist american marines we are, while on the other hand, Xenos are just practicing their right to survive and protect their home, and most importantly, their family.

The day after scout rework was implemented I two hit decap a scout spec about 10 minutes after first landing. It was probably the first xeno he saw that round and I felt really bad for the guy.

Careful we don't want another misterjoper. Remember marines keep blasting bugs until the co says you can go home. Jokes aside lore wise your comment does have some merit. This is just an armed force being moved by a company to protect their assets. It's pretty cruel in that regard, but after all this is humanity trying to expand its horizons. Only person I'd think should become a Xeno sympathizer in a normal round would be a synth because they can disassociate themselves from other humans. I'd like to see staff do more stuff with rogue synths, but I understand that's some shaky ground.

Oh man, I love going in and finishing off a freshly Buckshotted marine. Bonus points if you drag the freshly dead Marine into an egg field.

Some people might assume that, as a predator, I don't give a crap about anyone's fun and just want to kill shit.

But the reality is, I very much understand the horror of being hunted by a killing machine. Xenos instill this horror into marines all the time, and I had many horrific recollections of times I got ambushed by runners and hunters and soiled myself, struggling greatly to put up one last good fight before my death.

When you think about it, predators and xenos are somewhat alike. They both like to prey on those that stray from groups, and both like to instill terror into their victims. Only difference is that, as a predator, I'm much more selective in this and only choose those that I think would look good in my collection.

Yes, I understand that it takes a long time to grow into a T3, let alone a mature one, and I know how much it sucks to have all that time wasted because a predator ambushed you and tore your head off... But the way I think about it, it is an honor to be hunted, not an annoyance. I don't get hunted very often, which means I don't get to interact with predators from a human/xeno perspective a whole lot. Predators are supposed to add to the round and create interesting experiences, so if a predator like me comes around and tries to kill you in melee combat (and mind you, I am often quite fair in melee combat), might as well make the most of it instead of getting upset. At least xenos can respawn and start anew, unlike predators and marines.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

I am a xeno regular and i have NEVER had any direct interaction with preds. I have seen them, But the closest contact i ever had to one was as a queen, Telling my hive to harvest it as soon as i got my prae killed by it.

Tbh Even if i would get salty in the end for getting fucked by a xeno killing machine, it would be interesting to be hunted at least once

Also, About the main post, Yeah, I kinda feel guilty about it, But losing is part of the game.

How i see it, Most of the time i fuck a marine is because they were dumb enough to stray far from their group, Or got cocky and tried to chase me (That happens a lot, im always trying to bait them) So, I get to feel no remorse at all because its always them fucking themselves up for a mistake. Same happened to me during my first marine rounds, And i have learned a lot, Though i haven't managed to survive an entire round yet.

Without us trying to fuck the marines so hard, they wouldn't learn shit, and the ones who are already good at their job, wouldn't even have a challenge.

Whenever I'm a xeno I don't like to 'hard' engage on a survivor. I don't really want to pounce on them for the kill, I like to harass them a bit. Give them a slash, or break on their barricades. Survivor is a roleplay mostly role, and I gain zero satisfaction in killing a lone survivor with no armor, a subpar weapon, and all that nonsense.

I feel bad about killing marines I'm familiar with, but, I gotta do what I gotta do.

Messing with Survivors does feel meh. I'd be fine with them getting skill, speed, or accuracy buffs. Clearly they're robust if they survived, right?
