Sticky Resin - a comprehensive guide to becoming the greatest drone ever

Post by ValGarilovich » 17 Mar 2018, 20:04

I will keep this guide short and sweet

If there is a tile not being used for anything else...
STICKY RESIN

This shit takes forever to destroy (without a machete) and slows marines to a halt.

Step 1: spread weeds and what not
Step 2: S T I C K Y R E S I N everywhere
Step 3: destroy foolish hosts that walk into your lair of sticky resin

By following this guide you can go from an annoying drone, to a 'fuck this call CAS on this sticky resin god damn' drone

Sticky resin fields are the bane of any marine. The best way to remove sticky resin is to burn it to the ground as a pyro spec. Even then it takes a lot of fire to remove.

Which is one of the reasons you intersperse them with walls: to block the fire streams so they can only destroy so much resin at once (besides providing cover/impeding movement).

While the sea of sticky resin is great, it doesnt allow hugger bolt holes and building new walls if they have a sniper.

Yeah I have to say, marines suck facing eggs and resin traps, that's the only reason not to flood resin, because a marine usually understands that there cannot be a resin hole on that tile. Otherwise flood the map with sticky resin, and make marines hate their lives.

Zig zag the sticky resin, and fill the other spots with walls/eggs/resin holes

You have to remember the walls, walls are really damn important for blocking marine LOS and for providing cover. Once the drones/hivelord have the walls set, you can spam sticky resin and hugger holes all you want.

Also, a big fuck off to any runners/hunters that screech "OMG STOP MAKING WALLS AND DOORS, YOU ARE SLOWING ME DOWN".
Sure, they might slow down your daily commute across the hive, but in the long run, it allows you to confuse and surprise the marines when they decide to walk into the resin hell.

You have thermals, they don't. Use that to your advantage.
I play Cosmo Rader, the intelligent man that rocks a good goatee. Usually play as Smartgunner, PO, and Carrier.
"I swear to god, I can walk next to eggs or crabs and they just ignore me."

sticky resin should be updated to slow marine frames down to 1 and increase their ping by 200 when they step on it. Ooh-rah
