Secure nest. If you isolate the rines, they can't cooperate in escaping. A nest chamber can get your sentinels/spitters killed if the rines cooperate and struggle out the nest all at the same time and start spamming nades

Secure nests, slightly less of a spamfest as if you take initiative you can body block the marine in their cell. Also if you are close you can stop the poor SOB's from killing themselves unless they have shotgun macros. There is an action delay after they break free, long enough for you to open the door and tackle/neuro.

When you start the round, you build one large chamber around the Queen. You need at least 10 spaces for eggs for Carrier, then you can add some nests for smallhosts - that's fine. When you have actual marines incoming, you always always want to put them in secure nests. This gives guards enough time to tackle them before they can free their buddies and give you more trouble.

Not even a contest and if you’re not making secure nests for marines you’re hurting the team.

Nest Chambers, because great escapes are always fun and secure nests just make the marines SSD.

Edit, I do find it nice however if you do a secure nest and fuck with the marines in some fashion. Keep them entertained and the RP up.

secure nest

anything else makes it much more likely for trouble to happen
depends on the secure nests it might be a little bad, but optimally they are better by far

Secure nests. These are way better than nest chambers and definitely save sentinels a pain in the ass.

You usually you only end up having one sentinel or so to guard the nests. One sentinel for properly secured nest is fine, but one sentinel for a nest chamber is a death sentence.
Nest chambers are just too easy to cooperate and escape from as marine.

Don't give a marine an ounce to move around and he'll be in a permanent cycle of getting up, not being able to move an inch, getting tackled and spitted from an open resin door, and immediately nested, until he gives birth to a sister. Any deviation that gives them space is just more and more opportunity for them to do absolutely anything, which is bad.

Bonus points if you put some distance between the secure nests, instead of making a checkered pattern of nests and doors. This denies mass nade suicides.

Right, I am going to weigh in now. I prefer a three-nest chamber, as a single sentinel can easily take them down, drones/other sentinels can come to back them up if needed, allows marines to talk to each other, and because secure nests fucking suck. You can´t even get halfway to the guy before they shoot themselves and half of the hosts you had with ¨secure¨ nests.

You're building them wrong if you're unable to get to marines in time. There should be a max of two doors to reach a nested host if they're smarties, else you just go one door. Most captured marines only have a pistol or knife, so if they manage to break free from a nest chamber secure nests, you're bald.

Maybe I misunderstood what you said by secure nests or nest chambers. As you have a nest chamber secure nests at the forward hive not at the Queen.

I mean secure nests as the one with W as walls, D as doors, and N as nests.

Well then I completely agree. I though you meant secure nest as:
W D W D W D W
D N N N N N D
W N N N N N W
W D W D W D W

or so.

Edit: I still disagree, secure nests are superior. I must have smoked something when typing the other message.

I switched around from nest chambers and secure nests as some point. I've been meaning that secure nests are the best.
Those chambers are the most fun for marines and probably for both parties involved aswell, but purely from a xeno that wants to win viewpoint. Secure nests win, if built properly. They are cut off from cooperating and when unnested they're unable to move anywhere but into the xeno waiting at the doors.

I really like this style as sentinel and as marine. I should start making a compilation of every time I've killed myself as marine while nested. It also gives Xenos a set place to guard, and for non sentinel's to drop off hosts too. I honestly think Xenos would have more larvae bursted if they use this design, the only thing you might have to worry about is mag harness shotguns, but as a Xeno you get a much more cushioned response time to stun and nest the marine.

You have obviously never tried to navigate one of the ¨secure¨ nests mazes that are made, do you? Sometimes, if they are in a row it works, but they can expand to be over 10 tiles deep and 10 tiles long. I have guarded them as a beno and been in them as a marine, and they suck. Also, what is up with the insults and hostility? This is meant to be a debate, not a flame war.

But most of the time, 3 or less benos are guarding and simply cannot handle the amount of time it takes to get between nests. I see what you are getting at though. If it was properly built and staffed it would work great, but sadly that rarely happens.

in a secure nest, the worst case scenario is a marine killing himself, in nest chambers however, its everyone escaping together, or even killing the guarding sentinels/drones and ovi queen, seen it happen.
