I could care less tbh if you've got me in the nest I'm either going to ghost or try to kill myself, what you do or want isn't my problem.
Yep, thats how i go about it too.

Any marine bad enough to get nested deserves it. Imo they should be impossible to break out of/very hard (not this get out in 30sec BS) as a way to punish bad players.

Like seriously, the xenos are pushovers as it, and you need either bad latency or bad skills to ever get anywhere near nested.
Hahha, funny man, you must be a pro, or just have good stable internet.

Not sure if secured nests or sentinel tackle/spit spamm whilst guarding is worse.

To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Protip, cut down the nest where you stand and sheath the knife right before being spat. If the xeno is bald he might not understand what the feck is happening and leave you timz to cuckshot him.

Worked more than once but oh well it's game over when nested and guarded.

can confirm that this works most of the time. Once, there was this sentinel that was dancing on me and taunting me with emotes and all that jazz. So when I got up, destroyed my nest, buckshotted him so hard the whole Hive felt it and followed through with the bayonet stabs, my satisfaction levels were through the roof.

Human captives are either taken to a well guarded hive where the queen is laying eggs, there's a very very slim chance to escape. At best you might get a grenade out and take out a few eggs. Alternatively, you are taken to a makeshift spawning chamber much closer to the front since the queen is no longer tending to a nest. You have a much better chance to escape depending on how well or badly the xeno are doing. As a rule of thumb, if you can hear gunfire, escape could be possible.

A classic progression:

1. Xeno have one Hive, everyone is taken here. (Difficult to escape)
2. Front moves toward FOB. Queen abandons original nest. Makeshift chambers built elsewhere. (Easier to escape)
3. New nest built to replenish numbers. Everyone taken there (Difficult)
4. Queen abandons new nest. Makeshift chambers built (Easier to escape)
etc

I hate being alone in a nest. It's a lot more fun to be near other marines and suffer together. I would give all my weapons if I could be nested next to other marines.

I wouldn't mind if marines couldn't get out on their own. You don't get out because you have skill, it's because either
  • sentinels understandably refuse to do the most boring task in the game
  • not enough xenos
  • xenos struggling to fight the marines
The two last ones means mates can save you probably. First one is an OOC problem devs should fix.

I personally like secure nests because it's easier to RP one-on-one with my guard than to do it with a
bunch of other marines and xenos that do not care at all for that sort of thing and so fuck around with
it. That's just personal though.

Ultimately, most of the time secure nests are boring, because you resist out, stand up, knife the
door, then get spit and nested again, or you just get completely ignored until you burst.

Secure nesting is definitely boring for captured marines but it's the most efficient option for xenos, the host can't move anywhere and can be easily stunned and re-nested. As a captured marine or a survivor it would be nice even if there was a resin membrane (window) so you could talk to your buddy nested two tiles away from you.

It's not even about efficiency, you just straight lose if you put them in a nest that isn't completely locked down. Even with the commie blocks you can still get dunked on if you get bad rng with the spit, leaving them space to maneuver is asking to get you, and by proxy all the xenos, fucked over unless you're spamclicking as an ancient. And that's all with just one guy. Imagine having that on top of any hosts that can see eachother coordinating, getting up at the same time, at least one is going to be shooting you at every moment, even more if any of them have the right macros. They can already do that the way it is now, but no one ever bothers calling out to see if their squadmates are captured too, the only excuse they really have is there being fewer than 5 and all of them being different squads. All that before we even get into hosts being able to piece together where they are, and just telling their squad exactly where to put their OB's or where to find the queen.

A 1x1 blind hole may be shitty, but it's so vital to the xeno win that doing anything else might as well be borderline griefing.

Secure nests will become really bad for xenos if humans get no delay on actions once they get free, and that's how it appears the opinion is going on Gitlab. Because human gets up, instantly has buckshot out, sent dead because it had to walk into a 1 tile radius of the guy- or the guy does an incen grenade and kills himself along with a shitload of other hosts.

I know there's at least one xeno player that likes dragging burst corpses into nests and screaming "THIS IS YOUR FUTURE!" at the hosts. RP-ing as xenos is fine and all, but there's a point where it gets harmful for the team.

As for the secure nest thing, I personally see it as inefficient and a sign of a lazy hive tbh. I've managed to put down simultaneous escape attempts solo as a Drone in 100% open nests before, why can't Sentinels do the same?
