So, you've burst on the Almayer, managed to escape from the operating room by sneaking under the doors and hide under some table. Now what?

What are the good picks for being a solo xeno on Almayer? How should you go about surviving?

I think I've seen only one xeno do really well, and that was a skilled runner. With Queen's pheromones and remote healing / transfusions he did manage to wreck some havoc.

Drone.

Go weed everything, destroy lights and shit. Combat almayer xeno just isn't viable anymore since it was nerfed into the ground. Your best bet is just breaking lights and APCs.

Just don't immediately go for tcomms.

Yeah. I'd pluck for something that can plant weeds, off the bat. After a 1-2 of them, a fuckton of runners who can now disrupt ops and heal.

Or you could try to go Hunter, Decap the Commander and all the CIC Command, profit. (All with the Queen's care and healing, like a pocket medic of TF2.)

What location would be good to have your little drone hive so it would be hard to find you? Research lab seems pretty good since it's a large room that few people have access to, doubly so if the shutters are down. Same with the far end of the brig - nobody seems to check the execution chamber really. Any other places that are decent?

That was nerfed. Now the Queen has no effect and cannot heal xenos on the ship while she is planetside. Mostly due to elite hunters having a queen in their pocket hunting down the freshly awakened marines.

As for the question OP. Go drone and stealth weed areas. Blow lights etc. Make the ship a softer target for the upcoming invasion, after all the main disadvantage the xeno has when attacking the ship is the lack of weeds around the ship.

I'll drop this bit of info here since a surprising amount of people don't seem to know it.
Queen cannot give you plasma/healing if she's on the ground and you're on the ship and vice/versa.
also, you physically CANNOT heal if the queen is on another Z-level, doesn't matter if you have weeds.

You cannot heal at all when the Queen is on another z-level(She's on the planet, you're on Almayer). That is why it's not viable at all to engage in combat as a lone xeno on Almayer, unless you're going for suicide.

Runner, climb into the vents and find lone marines/ people in prep rooms/non-combat unarmed roles. Pounce, tackle, aim for head. Eventually I'll get killed, but by that time, a good amount of marines will have fallen victim to me too.

are you able to recover plasma while on a separate z level from the queen still? if not, you might not be able to melt everything of value, besides the trouble you might get in if youre spotted melting prep room machines or something

the safest route so as not to get harassed by admins would be runner mischief bullying people fresh out of cryo or trying to get their stuff from prep, at least until people wise up and weld all vents shut. kill the MTs and the CE too, so they dont help weld everything up. maybe the almayer will even run out of power, if they didnt fill up the smes properly

I would most certainly go drone, having weeds makes everything better. Create a "Hive" by melting everything somewhere and just wait until they find me. Creating havoc can really lower morale for everyone, I mean who wants to come back up to a ship where the things you're fighting have some how ended up in your bedroom. Keeping vent crawling a secret would have to be a key factor though, removing vents means no more escape routes.

Be a drone, spread weeds everywhere, fill rooms with resin walls, and lead the MP's on a wild goosechase so the marines and medbay are can get up to no good.

Go Drone, sneak to the tank bay, weed the whole place and turn it into a nasty trap-filled hellhole. Assuming I can even evolve, eventually upgrade to Hivelord and slowly, carefully weed the other levels, using Resin Walker to get away. Break all the lights I can, melt all the walls, machines, etc I can, break all the APCs I find. Specifically, my second choice of location would probably be engineering, try and put down the Almayer's power.

I wouldn't evolve to hivelord, you're going to need vents to escape from the horde of MPs and shipside marines that come looking for you.

you don't gain upgrade and evo ticks when the queen's not on the same Z level as you, so no hivelord here.

I think the no healing should be removed. If the queen is dead, anyone can heal on the ground, so the queen obviously does not grant healing abilities.

Yeaaaah no.
The whole reason this "no healing" thing was implemented was because one alien could murder all doctors/MTs/CIC staff and basically just end the game for marines.

I'd pick a drone so I can build and plant weeds. Make a nice "FOB" area and just fuck with the marines so they would be focused on me. That would give the marines on the planet an easier time because command would be too focused on finding me than supporting the marines. That's if I wanted to be smart. The way I would usually go is by picking a runner so I can just fuck up as many marines as I can on the Almayer until I get killed in a horrific death. Most likely being all over the walls when I die.
