I’ll be preparing a gitlab about a “soft” Whitelist as there seems to be a lot of confusion about what players are asking for with said Whitelist. This is the sample Q&A to gain immediate access to said list.

This is only meant to encompass round start initial Queens. It’s not meant to be a popularity contest - or even competency. Just knowing the basics of the side you’re about to lead.

+1 I've encountered too many Queens who haven't even played Drone before and have no idea about the Xeno functions. While I understand that playing the role would be a good way to learn, this could definitely assist with Xenos being whiped out by early rushes.

There's a difference between a brownlist [OP refers to it as a brownlist but I prefer greylist. It's semantics mostly] and a whitelist. In essence, a brownlist is a priority list while a whitelist is a yes/no list. In a more detailed explanation, with a brownlist those on the list would be prioritized for the role but should one not be available from the brownlist pool it then goes to the general pool for the choice. An example would be as follows:

Say Joe Schmoe was a brownlisted queen while Jane Doe is not. Should Joe Schmoe and Jane Doe have Xeno and Queenie preferences on, Joe Schmoe will get the Queen role every time because of the brownlist, but once Joe Schmoe turns off Queenie prefs the next round Jane Doe will be able to Queen since there is no longer anyone active on the brownlist for the queen pool, so it moves on to the general pool.

The point I would bring up is that this is entirely a knowledge based application rather than a testament to leadership or showing an adherence to role-play [Although should it be implemented I'm sure these will be taken somewhat into consideration regardless just due to human naturr] so it's faster and easier to score than one with nuanced answers like the Commander, Synth, or Pred apps. It could be very possible to both put in an app and have it approved/denied on the same day.

All in all, I'm moderately for this. I'll lament the loss of round-start queens getting their trial-by-fire period but feel like it'd be an overall better way to have organized Xenos who don't make newer players leave due to the pressure on the Queen role itself.

Huh, we use to have something like this on HL2RP I use to play years ago.

Sounds like a good idea, just gotta answer questions correctly in-game and you can be the Queen.

I enjoy watching Queens go through that sink or float trial every so often but that's as an outside observer. I know from experience it's hell on the players underneath her command so I think it would be great if we could cut down on it.

I had forgotten about this but being reminded of it I can honestly say I would love to see this trialed. I don't see this as a 'gate' to keep new players out but as a lesson for new queen players, in my opinion it will only ensure that xenos have better queens (and less frustration) and marines have a bigger, more satisfying challenge.

A few questions could maybe be tweaked and I would add something like:
Q) What determines the number of leaders the queen is able to set? A) Her evolution.

And for the sake of simplicity I would stick to mutliple choice answers and tell players which questions they got wrong. The actual implementation is something where I wouldn't know where to begin, though.

Now, don't get me wrong. I would never advocate a whitelist for queen...

But a Brown List I can understand. Seems like a good idea. +1.
