Honetly I feel like the insistence on oversaturating T2 with Lurkers that refuse to evolve to T3s happens often enough that the queen almost needs the ability to lock out evolution to specific castes sometimes...

Having 6+ lurkers, 1 warrior, and zero spitters, hivelords, or carriers is seriously bad for the hive and de-evolving the lurkers can often hurt the hive as well. Most of the people who evolve to become Lurkers often do so against the queen's orders as well.

I've been annoyed more by the hordes of spitters we've had recently, who refuse to evolve to boiler and clog up T2 spots for aspiring sentinels

But yeah greedy evolves suck for just about everyone

My hive a few days ago had a queen that said free evo, only to be met by 10 runners the second they could evolve (guilty) Was great, until we had no chads to tell the tale.

Then I had my own hive where I asked for Crushers and Boilers before anyone became a Rav. Should’ve worded it better, had 8 Lurkers before we were even close to having any Warriors or Spitters ready for evo.

This is becoming a plague to rot all hives, and deserves exterminatus.

If I'm asking for T3s and the T2s wont evolve, AND I have T1s trying to get T3, I'm gonna devolve whichever T2 caste is the most numerous.

The lurks can wait until the bottleneck is over before becoming flankers.

on a serious note, having too many lurkers is terribad because they're not a frontline caste and will most likely get destroyed by the main force of marines since the majority of lurker players have 6 IQ

I've seen chad teams of lurkers stop marine assaults before they even made contact with our main fighting force.

Morale tends to plummet when you're with ten other marines waiting for reinforcements only to learn there are a few dozen bodies littering the road between your outpost and the FOB and no help is coming.

Now, elite and up sentinels? Mass them up and you can make a lean, mean salt-producing machine. Spitters do ok too, but why take up a T2 slot when you can have an army of short-ranged T1s that can upgrade relatively quickly, have some decent health and armor, and at higher levels are great at crowd control?

It is a sadly neglected caste that can easily one-up lurkers in the hands of a good player.

At least as a sentinel, you can quickly backpeddle if things go bad.

Once you pounce someone as a lurker, you get a brief stun before you can do anything, and lemme tell you, I seen a lot of lurkers fuck up with bad pounces and die. Doesn't help that pouncing is the ONLY way for them to get a decent stun (let alone close the gap), so if you are dealing with someone armed with a shotgun, you are going to have to hope your pounce connects and that there isn't ANOTHER guy with a shotgun right behind him.

as a lurker if you pounce into a group of marines you most likely will survive anyways since you're much faster and can have a pounce for get away once it recharges, its just much safer. you'd be surprised how many people ive seen get pounced, a marine runs up for a PB, and kills the guy below the lurker

If you learn when and how to use pounce it’s very rare that you die because of the pounce stun. Additionally, lurkers have much more dps, more tankiness(not by a lot though, but it’s easily noticeable) and more speed than a sentinel does. Along with the tackle mechanic being much less wonky to use compared to the spit mechanic, combined with the more substantial stun duration, as well as being more effective in the hands of a better player, a skilled single lurker is easily much more useful than a sentinel, and i’d even argue in groups lurkers are more effective. And as for the upgrade speeds: for almost every caste in the games the power of a xeno is relative to the time it takes to get to the next upgrade, not the maturity, so a mature t3 would be roughly equal to an elder t2 or ancient t1.

Disclaimer: personal opinions were made before tackle nerfs. lurker is in the gutter currently until something about the tackles are addressed. I could argue that sents could be pretty equal or even better than lurkers because of the nerfs.

I know for a fact that a sentinel can be just as capable as any ol' lurker, I have experience! Once I held off a squad of deltas from attempting a western flank by myself until reinforcements arrived! That was kinda cool...

Sides, what with how hard it is to get T2 sometimes, you often just gotta work with what you got. It is either a sentinel or a runner (or a defender, but I swear to god they got nerfed hard to the point that an elite sentinel can tank more damage than an elite defender...), and I am not the kinda guy that enjoys being killed in a single burst.

You could also go drone, but not everyone wants to do brutally hard labor that no one appreciates while everyone else goes out to kill things and have fun...
