In Aliens, it took two completely loaded sentry turrets to dissuade the xeno frontal attack. I don't think it's non-canon for an alien to attack on sight.
Unless they are moving coordinated with lights and have enough stuff going for them that would register with the alien as an indicator that there's more to these hosts than their relative wimpy physique and limited mobility.

Aliens are on a thin line between Legit and Meta.

A few xenomorphs can attack on first landing/first sight.

A queen shouldn't be on the front, waiting at the LZ for an attack at first drop/first contact.

Yeah one time we landed in rasp after briefing, and surprise surprise, the Queen, two ravs and a carrier was waiting for us in LZ1, they hugged me and half of my team, then I ahelped full of salt and admuns response was: There's no meta, the Queen was just passing. I said "3 T3 and the Queen was passing by LZ1?" I got no response.

Yeah well.. usualy when the queen is in the colony she has escort, also the carrier is not T3.
Also if you guys don't want aliens to be near lz1 constantly then make a suggestion to move that goddamned tunnel, most of us would barely be at lz1 were it not for that.

that would solve a lot of salt over the Rasp being raided by runners from the east side after marines have left the LZ to go do their assigned duties I must admit.

Of course, spamming this tunnel is kinda meta. But leaving the RASP undefended because you know that it, map wise, is barricaded is also meta. Not to mention that a xeno did sneek aboard the dropship in Aliens.

aliens sneaking onto the dropship is the number one cause of death for PO's from what I've seen frequently.

I mean, that's how the POs died in Aliens. If we REALLY wanna defend muh immershun, we should leave that alone.

The aliens should defend their hive. In the movies, they only launched a massive assault on the marines AFTER their nest had been invaded. That's how things should go - lone squad gets too close to the hive, gets nested or routed, and things escalate from there. However, I don't think the aliens should attack fortified positions after taking any casualties - in the movie there were hundreds of aliens. They could lose a few, but the players in the game cannot afford that. They should always act smarter, like the aliens did after getting shredded by turrets. Aliens grow stronger with time, marines only lose ammo. However, this proper strategy would increase round times even more - I would suggest that the speed of alien evolution be increased. To counter that, the marines should have a way to gain information about the hive early on, just like they did in the movies by tracking colonist IDs. I don't know if this is a thing already though.

Also, I think marines should be a bit more reckless. Forts go up before there's even any idea what's going on on the planet, which is powergaming if you ask me. Just like yesterday's event, the LZ2 was fortified long before my character even heard what the firing and casualties were about, despite asking about it multiple times.

Yeah, I played a round the other night where they literally had to tell the Xeno's to stop meta rushing the LZ's because they already had fucking walls up blocking off the entire LZ to trap marines inside of it so they could then attack them as soon as they dropped.

Also there are a lot of Xenos who just don't listen to the queen when she says to ignore the Marines and or not attack them yet, and Marines who attack Xenos without having gotten any intel about them being hostile or dangerous. I also have experienced situations where the RP was actually quite good and we saw a few of them just watching us and not attacking us and we didn't point blank shoot them because they hadn't attacked yet. And the SL was actually competent and said not to shoot at native life and waste ammo on 'Lizards' we know nothing about.

It's really wishy washy because you will always have those MUREEEINES who just come onto the server to be ass-backwards retarded.

I wish Xenos would occassionally try and be more stealthy themselves too, keeping to their side of the river, and only picking off lone marines, just to create a more slow paced fun round.

Actually now that I think about it, next time I go queen I'm gonna command that, now hopefully the Xenos actually listen and the marines don't metarush.

There's always atleast one xeno that won't listen to you and you're going to have to go to the frontlines to find out who it is, which more often than not results in most queens' death.

I am going to play the stealth game, I will psychic whisper to the SL's saying we are friendly, they will come into the hive to negotiate and I shall ambush!

I know that will end in me dying but it'll be a fun story.

I'm going to end up asking one of the SLs to come and take a walk with me and have them take a look at what's happening and if they try to run away, I'll screech/get some sentinels to neuro them.

Whenever I try to be friendly to marines as a xeno, or atleast not rip faces off, there is always one person who says in looc; "You're breaking a rule. Xenos can't be friendly."

Xenos can be friendly if the Queen wills it, and by that I mean, they'd observe the Marines.

It is, which is why if you don't play the Queen you should do it for her so she can focus on trying to build the hive. I just yesterday did that like 5 times, no idea if it helped but it sure made it easier for the Queen when Ayys are being retarded thinking they can lone wolf when she says pull back across the river and not to cross it.

Very nice to play for larva or runner and make friends with the Marines. I once did that and got good emotions. Other players were also happy :)
