honestly the kind of people that play aliens arent the kind of people to go on forums. they are the kind of people that just want to play, immediately, go runner and die. they dont want to take time preparing, or thinking.

for me, i used to play alien a lot more when aliens had a 40% winrate, when runners got crit by 2 m4a1 shots. it was frustrating, but it was fun and challenging, when you got a marine capture it felt like you accomplished something.

now that you can be an elite runner, and survive not just 3 m4a1 bullets, but even the occasional mine...

its just no fun. like, its too easy to win with aliens right now. when you win, you feel like you didn't contribute to it, because you know they would win regardless.

they dont really need a community, as opposed to the marines who have to work together or die. when the marines win its because they actually put shit together, you feel like you meant something to it if you did good, like you were a part of it, and you overcame the odds.

with aliens its mostly just due to the overall oppressive nature of the alien classes, their natural ability to win by attrition and constantly rehealing and surviving ridiculous damage.

which isn't to say aliens don't get up against the corner, which is the only time i join alien, because its the only fun time. but its just way way way rarer.

+1 True but I think Aliens can still be quite challenging from time to time but I do agree with this most xenos aren't proper xeno players

Holy hell yes, this is what makes fighting at the hive much better, marines are slowly pushing you back into a corner, while you and your teammates are trying your best to destroy them, and casualties and injuries are rising fast and repeatedly, compared to when i just run around as a runner and hug 15+ marines because i am too fast to be caught.

I don't typically play xeno either, I find it to be pretty repetitive and boring. When I do I like to play Crusher and Boiler though. Part of the RP issue is that Xenos are a part of a hivemind, there isn't a need for communication outside of memes and tactics. I also think that the issue that Xenos don't have set numbers is arbitrary and should be remedied, it prevents what RP that Xenos could have with each other early because xenos aren't established as individuals. It's harder to give them character to rp.
I play Aria Vivici. I think people like me. I'm not sure why.

I dislike marine mains who complain every time they lose and only play to win. Why? Because! If they are about winning so much go to the xeno side! They say "it's to easy though waaaaaaaaaa" well don't complain when you lose! People like them powergamey to hell and back but say xeno is to easy? Like what the fuck people

I think that there's a massive lost oppurtunity here for both xeno RP and for xenos to be known for robustness as marines are.

I avoid playing xenos because of the aforementioned lack of indivisibility. A marine's "story" doesn't have a whole lot of permanency either as far as the current round is concerned, though you will still meet new people and eventually start seeing familiar faces. Meanwhile you have no way at all except through LOOC to make connections as the aliens. It almost defeats the purpose of multiplayer gaming imo.

If set numbers were added I'd happily play them a lot more. I've always liked their mechanics a lot, but the lack of a community just kills it.

This is a subject that has been debated from a long time, still, i think the staff is actually working on bigger things for the game and it will take more time until they stick the loop into this

The problem with custom Xeno numbers is that we're all going to fight over 666, 69, 420, and 42.

No fun to play as xeno because nobody will recognize you anyways. That's why i only play as mareen and when i die, i don't ghost to play as xeno.
On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Started playing Xeno a little more seriously today - typically I'd only go Xeno after dying as a mahreen but today I tried it from the round start, and it was quite fun.

But, yeah, as stated in the topic, what's not fun is that others don't seem to play Xeno with the same intentions. I saw countless Larvae waiting for players. I saw larvae burst and immediately go SSD. I saw larvae quickly evolve into runner and jump to their deaths wastefully.

There's something seriously lacking in the Xeno gameplay that unfortunately makes marines a far more fun game from a roleplay aspect. Play Xeno if you want follow rigid meta rules and kill stuff. Marine for RP and to die horribly from FF.

I personally like playing Xeno. It depends on what I want to do at the time.

Xeno...much to some dismay...gives me time to admin, as I can afk in a corner to deal with ahelps and not feel like I missed out persay, even better at round start, but if I aghost as a marine I often come back to being hugged or decapped which is sad.

After playing as xeno a lot lately I'm sympathising with them a lot. Marine players give xenos and the meta a lot of shit cos they don't win, but if marines were winning all the time there would be literally no reason anyone would really play xeno, as marines you get both RP and indestructibility?

Big example was a previous round where 10+ special snowflake marines and the PMCs took the pod down when we aliens came and (easily) took over the ship. (Easy cos of the lack of defence.)

We eventually learn that the marines had built a defensive system in the caves, via a long one tile route mined into the rock adjacent to the the map wall. As ancient crusher I was needed to charge down and break the walls the marine set up. When we got in it was a kill zone. Admins were unhappy with this turn of events and helped open up a new hole for xenos to get in by, and it was still a hard won battle.

In dchat, people were giving admins shit for their interference, defending the meta and powergaming play, saying that these cowardly marines deserved to win. Had they been on the sully they'd have countered us anyway, we weren't that strong.

Anyway my point is that moment right there made me see that no appreciates the things that xeno players do, being the antagonists and giving the marine players am interesting game...
