What makes a MT useful?

Post by Moon Tune » 25 Jan 2017, 09:19

I have been really getting into the Maintenance Technichian role lately and have been really enjoying it!

Tough I have been wondering what I as a MT can do to help out the crew and improve certain things on the ship in general?

I know that hacking vendors in the marine armory and "upgrading" the supply console in cargo are a good idea, but what else can I do to really help you other departments on the ship or the marines on the ground?
Would for example setting up a free autolathe for the marines be adviseable or is it just a waste of material?
I would be really thankful for your suggestions!

There is something planned for them but currently their jobs includes:

Repairing any damage to the Sulaco,

Fixing the dropship windows,

Fortifying the FOB with permission.

I don't like cute things.

Good hunting.

The best thing you can do for command, which I do whenever I am MT, is setting up camera's in the FOB and any secured area marines have access to.

They might not be thankful until the BO's realize all their SL's are dead, and the only way to see whats going on is through the very camera's you set up.

Trust me, this happens a lot more than you think, and its round changing if they have a backup camera system to rely on instead of just their SL's.

Eh, if I have a CE, thats usually what he does so MT is pretty useless at that point unless you go out and make your own fun.

Build a buttload of girders on the Sulaco, dislodge them and send them down on the Rasp. If you run out of metal, you can stick metal things into an autolathe to make more.

Only do this if you get a cargo tug because that along with a backpack of power cells and a crowbar to a marine. Superfast transport of girders to anywhere quickly.

I know MT isn't one of the more exciting jobs compared to the life of a combat engineer, but when I roll it, I still do my duties with pride.

Be it repairing the dropship/pod as it lands in the hanger or picking up trash in the hall during sanitation duty, as an MT, your job is to make the Sulico and her smaller craft sparkle and shine. It just feels good to see a mess and be like "I'm gonna fix it" and then I fix it... Only for someone to break something in that area and force me to fix it again, and again, and again... But thus is the life of an MT, always keeping the ship in tip-top shape.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.
