Why marines have the urge to rush downed aliens?
Just why, you are a marines that have a freaking GUN. Why do you need to rush that goddamn runner/drone that are downed to bash it with your GUN. That's not how you use GUN.
Every single time a squad downed an alien there's always this guy who got an urge to finish it with a melee, and whine when they get shot because they are basically running in the LINE OF FIRE of people who are smart enough to use their GUN.

More or less it's kinda rare you truly fuck one of the bigger ayys, so it's just sort of a don't let this fucker get away. Also all marines secretly wanna be shot.

Its marines getting excited that they finally put a pesky xeno into crit, and its their unga dunga cave men instincts activating.
They MUST claim their kill in RITUAL COMBAT, MELEE STYLE.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Ah right, the acid blood, one more reason why you SHOULDN'T MELEE A GODDAMN ALIEN unless you want your face to melt

Acid blood is actually weak as shit if your smart and pack a tricord injector.
The problem is pain crit / chance of your face melting off (but who wants to look at your ugly mug anyway?).

At this point, should we just make acid blood also cause infections? I've been making my own flask mixes with tricord and inapovoline, and when you think about it, just because a medicine allows cells to regenerate damaged tissue from burns, doesn't mean it'd prevent infections, that and toxins aren't healed by tricord or inap.Swagile wrote:Acid blood is actually weak as shit if your smart and pack a tricord injector.

Then docs would just put 5u spacealine into each mix, though it would mean in rounds where docs aren't robust we'd see a lot of people dying of infections, so im all for making acid blood actually effective.Crab_Spider wrote:At this point, should we just make acid blood also cause infections? Right now, one tricord injector basically nullifies what makes all marines terrified of when they melee a xeno. Sure it takes time to heal, but it will heal, with no lasting effects unlike fractures and broken bones / lung busted from actually being hit by melee / bullets.

Re: Why marines have the urge to rush downed aliens?
The reason I sometimes rush up to an alien after downing it (either via stun or crit) is to ensure it is finished off. Bullets can't always be trusted to kill a downed xeno, moreso if it is being dragged.. But a knife can always be trusted to get a good amount of damage in, if you are able to close the gap.
Knives, in a dangerous way, are quite powerful against xenos if you are able to avoid being tackled down. They bypass armor, can attack at a decent speed and do modest damage without risk of deflection. Sure, there is acid blood, but it is sometimes worth it to ensure that a xeno stays down.
Plus there are badass points if you manage to kill a xeno in melee combat while it is still on its feet, although it often isn't the best idea to do it without marines watching your back.

Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

Yeah for some reason xenos dodge bullets even better while in crit, even more so if being dragged.

Marines wanna be badasses and glory-bash xenos and get critted from acid blood splatter. Also they might fear FF so they run up and bash.

Yah, +1 to bullets missing xenos while theyre lying still. Holy cow, i missed 3 shotgun shells out of 4 against an critical ancient runner and i was not happy with rnjesus that day. The one guaranteed no miss attack is a melee attack, which is why people still do it even if its very dangerous. Its just not worth taking a chance of missing when it takes sooo much to knock out a decent xeno player.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...
...
But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

There was once a hunter I could have killed. I missed all 5 shots and later on, the same hunter hugger decapped me. If I had just got out my boot knife and tore that topclassmemer up, I would have been alive and killed another decap machine.

This. Whenever I down an alien it has a laughably high chance to start dodging shots, even though it's on the ground and isn't moving. If it's even remotely next to other xenos I don't bother, but if it looks like there the others are falling back/aren't the runner cast, then I can safely assume that i'll be able to kill it without much of a problem.caleeb101 wrote:There was once a hunter I could have killed.
