Carson is a annoying, obnoxious person to deal with. I've never had a positive experience with Carson in a position of authority.

That's pretty much the consensus, yeah.

He rarely even takes himself or anyone else seriously so that's why I mostly play xeno rather than SL to avoid that.

Carson was a banter meme that evolved into something more involving station wide riots and severe command hunting.

also pretty sure he's one of the main reasons why we moved to commander whitelist, because some people thought fucking around was acceptable, and others just outright didn't do shit with it

That was a super shitty thing of him to do, but it does make for an epic story. Carson's CO gamestyle reminds me of most CL's who are usually up to nefarious activities.

His banter butt buddies were the only reason he got in anyway, he should not have been accepted into the whitelist just based on past experiences alone. He hasn't changed and he never will

OatzAndHoes wrote:Carson is a meme player. If you've ever had much experience with SS13 you'll see them come time to time, and some of the more well known ones such as Cuban Pete, Kingston, Shoe Stealin Willy and Chef Excellence you might have heard of before. Usually these players achieve meme status through some combination of creativity, autism, and extreme robustness or unrobustness. The best and most well known usually retire the gimmick/character before it starts to get old so they get put down in legend instead of slowly fading into annoyance. Cuban Pete was a great example of this, he came to /tg/, made station sized bombs that could crash the server, and then stopped using the character when admins hardcoded in a bombcap to prevent him from doing this anymore. As a result he has had a half dozen items named after him on most ss13 servers, and has gone down in ss13 legend. Others who keep their meme status usually start getting preferential admin treatment, and slowly start to annoy people because every other round becomes a meme. I found Carson pretty funny initially, but his bridge shenanigans are starting to get to the point were every couple rounds end in mutiny while everyone else dies because of his shitty gimmick of the round. He's not that bad of a player, its just that giving him CO whitelist was a mistake.

Rocco Ward wrote:There was a recent round that was meme worthy. We did a jungle SW base while I was in charge as the XO. Marines nearly mutinied command before Carson came out of cryo as CO. He ran up the bridge, assessed the situation, and then triggered the self-destruct sequence while everyone evacuated to the planet. On the planet as the FOB proceeded to get overrun, we were given the nuclear authentication codes. As marine after marine fell to the enemy forces, Carson made a daring escape out of the FOB while the nuke was ticking down. Before the final detonation he was halfway across the map, and the only human who survived the explosion. He literally outran the nuke... which should have killed everyone and everything on the planet.
i remember this. i think this was the best round of CM i ever had.

/vg/ players back around 2013ish. Kingston was a player whos hate for furries was legendary even by /vg/ standards. I don't like furries but he took things to new levels. He would constantly rail against furries and furry conspiracies even though furries were a race that only could be created by genetics and magic, and were considered valid no matter what. He would kill players he saw wearing the cat ears hat on the server and try to convince the admins that they were valid. Ended up getting banned and spamming #freekingston in threads for a couple years. I think the admins named a disease that turns you into a retarded furry after him. Chef Excellence was a top tier chef who was around on /vg/ for awhile. He was very good at his job and was an extremely creative antag as well. A poisonous sauce traitor item ended up getting named after him.

Oh my god, he poisoned food too?

I love the idea of using passive assassination in roles like barkeep and chef. There is something so satisfying about being able to passively murder someone without anyone seeing it coming.

Reminds me of this one time me and 2 other changelings got together to kill the barkeep, growing a toxic mushroom that killed on a delay and injecting it into a harmless pie. He thought it was a kind gesture from the chef, only to discover that it was a devious dish of sweet-tasting death. No one figured out how he died, and me and the 2 other lings came out feeling very satisfied with our work, even if it meant only one changeling completing his objectives.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.
