PSA for Medics: Bicard is broken [bug is fixed now]

Post by Renomaki » 20 May 2017, 21:53

I know I shouldn't really have to make this, but I figure that until bicard is fixed, it might be worth taking the time to let medics new and old be aware of the situation here.

For a little bit now, Bicard has been horribly broken, being unable to heal large amounts of brute damage (which might be why marines have been getting steamrolled as of late). Because of this, if you plan on going medic, I HIGHLY suggest you use Tricord in place of Bicard until we have confirmation of it being fixed. Might not be as fast, but if you care for your local marines, it is better to heal em slow than not at all.

Heres hopin we get our Bicard back soon, though, ay?

edit:

Bicard should be fixed now, so we should be able to return to normal business. Make sure to doublecheck your wounded, though. If you don't notice damage going down with bicard, then it might not be fixed yet.

What makes you say that Noah?

Is there a difference between the planet and the ship?

It partially works, but I haven't been paying attention to the exact circumstances. I'll check it out soon.

People.

Just take a dylovene and inaprovaline pill bottle. Feed the patient a pill of each, and the 25u anti toxin plus 30u inaprovaline now turns into 50u tricordrazine and now your patient's gone blind from the overdose, good job.

... I'll just stick to Tricord injectors until it is fixed.

I noticed this the other day when I had to give a wounded guy 30u of Bicard, and expected him to get up in like 2 minutes, tops. Time passed, He's still in crit at 6u Bicard left. Assuming bug, I gave another Bicard pill [15u] and sat next to him, monitoring the Bicard. It worked, but EXTREMELY SLOWLY.

I don't know what happened to Bicard, but it's definitely broken. All I can say now is:

UNGA DUNGA ME WUNT BICARD OR ME BREAK INTO CHEMISTRY!

If "it worked, but EXTREMELY SLOWLY" you were probably watching their wounds heal from previous application of bandages, rather than bicaridine.

I don't like discussing specific numbers too much but bicaridine works roughly an order of magnitude faster than bandaged healing.

I always bandage them with Trauma kits, and then if their Brute damage is more than 50-85 damage, I'll pop a Bicard pill for them (15u) for that stack heal effect. It always worked fine from what I always noticed, for some reason it didn't wanna work that time. Maybe Bicard is broken cause I never had a problem with it before.

It had been reported before, but I wasn't a true believer until a recent game, where I struggled to get people back into the fight even after my efforts... I feel bad for lettin down so many people, assuming that the pill was doin it's job when in reality it was nothing more but a placebo.

Next time I go medic, I'm gong to prepare in accordance of the bug so I don't let my squad down due to it.

What if what the developers really want is for the Xenomorphs to gain the upper hand via War of Casualties, knowing the Medics' meds wouldn't work when needed thus creating an endless wave of Xeno Majors, Deadchat Salt & Cries against the Medical menace! *GASP!*

Nah, maybe they are just doin another of their subtle changes to meta, to see how we handle things.

Can confirm. I had a medic round not long ago (1-2 days ago) where I managed to bring 2 guys back to life who initially had over 200 damage, but both of them had their brute damage plateau at around 160 no matter how much bicard I gave them. (This is of course after splints, peri, trauma packs, etc.)

Confirmed. Tested in controlled conditions and bicard does NOT do anything.
