So as I've played Colonial Marines over the past couple of months I've noticed a lot of the squad marines are incredibly incompetent, not just not knowing game mechanics and the like as that can be forgiven. They just seem to have half a brain and no common sense, Marines dragging wounded after people scream at them not to, shoving people out of doorways, ignoring any help veterans of the server give them, walking in front of firing lines and just in general not using their brains. Has anyone else on this server noticed this?

But really, there is times when people are actually newbie and make mistakes, and then we have...Baldies, one has to wonder if they are all actually a part of a new and improved AI experiment that failed horribly and were never deleted.

i remember a guy yesterday. Narukias or some shit. He constantly ignored my orders to defend FoB. It got him arrested and killed. He was baldiest baldie i have ever dealt with as a player and SL.

This is not news.

60-70% of marines don't know mechanics beyond their job, and prob 50% of THOSE don't know their job beyond the ABSOLUTE basics (Shoot at the ayy, do bone-repair surgery on the bone that the advanced scanner indicates is broken) and are out of their depth in an advanced situation (Shoot at the ayy WITHOUT killing the person being dragged by it, do bone repair surgery on a person with no damage without the advanced scanner).

For non-'rine jobs, this isn't a problem, we all need to start somewhere. Unless ALL the slots have "baldies" in them, which is an issue, but rare.

For 'rine jobs... according to what I've just put out... 50 'rines, 35-30 PERMArines, ~15 guys who are good for shooting ayys and NOTHING else. I love when someone asks over LOOC "what does tricordrazine do", cause then I can help them learn and be more useful.

Baldies are the bain of our existence as Medic. It's always nice to have a stray AP round hit you while you're working on someone. If you don't recognize someone, expect the worse. They could be in the "Un-bald'ing" process, which takes time in itself. As I said, don't trust a baldie, don't follow a baldie, Don't even bother interacting with them.. Else you'll have 2 bursts of AP coming your way.

A fair few of the baldies are just pretty damn drunk when playing, other than that, it's easier to identify a moment when a player is being dumb than when they are being fantastic.

That said, the average marine is special needs.

I'm mixed, I like baldies because they're the red shirts of the army and never seem to last long. It makes it feel much more like a war when you have people getting tossed, but on the other hand I've been hit by more than a few AP bursts.

It's because of this fact that I wait for the herd to thin out before I take the front lines, despite using shotgun and incinerator mostly.
