Focus Fire, AP rounds, Throwing knives, and other tactics and equipment questions
There's a thread in General discussion about quick questions,
but there isn't one in the USCM, specifically tailored to the piles on piles of equipment and possible squad tactics that can be utilized by our good old space marines
I'm going to ask all the questions in the title and try to answer any questions other people ask.
So, Focus fire. Does it work in SS13 without killing the marine next to you?
What can you use AP rounds for besides massive friendly fire and broken bones?
Why and who uses throwing knives? What are they good for?

Throwing knifes for Mutiny and refilling your pizza
AP rounds are there for disguising as a bush, they got green on it!
You can focus fire with Sadar Spit approved by FMS, may annihilate everything else however
Alternatively, use a smartgun with buckshot

I ask focus fire because on some codebases, if you try to shoot diagnally you'll hit whoever's standing right next to your side.

Focus fire to me means that not everyone is shooting at the same time, have the Pulse rifle guys do a couple bursts, and then wait a second before letting shotties have a turn, and so on ensuring that not everybody is out of ammo all at once.
You can also focus fire on specific targets, but the marines are dumb so don't ever expect to shred a T3 with teamwork... it ain't gonna happen in this game.

Re: Focus Fire, AP rounds, Throwing knives, and other tactics and equipment questions
Throwing knives are only really good against humans and preds, due to the chance of implanting themselves inside the target. They also do solid damage against aliens with armour, but is it really worth sacrificing mags of ammo for 4 knives? Nope. They're a gimmick.
AP is fantastic if shoved in a bag and used only when needed, but baldies are going to be baldies.

If you can't get AP ammo, get two throwing knives and put it in your armor. Use it against crushers and crushers only; its the only useful thing besides human vs human combat it achieves.

Ideally, yes, but it gets less likely with friendlies and enemies moving around. This guide might help you out. viewtopic.php?f=94&t=10755Nick123q23 wrote:So, Focus fire. Does it work in SS13 without killing the marine next to you?

I've used throwing knives a couple of times and I can say with absolute certainty that they're good if you want to stab yourself repeatedly

So throwing knives seem to be one-time only AP bullets from what people are saying.

Re: Focus Fire, AP rounds, Throwing knives, and other tactics and equipment questions
-throwing knives suck, no matter the situation
-bring 1 AP mag at maximum and only use it on crushers or ravagers . there is no point bringing more than 1 mag, 1 ap bullet to a human is lethal but to an alien they might as well be normal bullets due to the armor changes (unless said alien is a crusher or ravager). one more thing, ravagers have a low health pool anyways so it's not even that necessary.
-marines only know how to use focus fire when a queen appears OR when a SADAR blasts a T3.
these are the things i have learned from playing this game for nearly a year and that i believe strongly

Knife rigs are normal sized. You won't be sacrificing anythingTerminutter wrote:Throwing knives are only really good against humans and preds, due to the chance of implanting themselves inside the target. You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.
