I wouldn't go that far, but they are important enough that it should be looked down on. But I don't think it should ever be punished unless they break a rule.

In my opinion, some leeway should be granted for minor offenses if their arrest is going to be detrimental to the mission success. Is arresting a SL over something petty worth the disorganization, and the newly found hate for command/mps, in the squad?
There is leeway, as long as the CMP agrees. It's usually for things that can technically correspond to a charge, but are justified in context or can be solved straight away. For example, you don't get brigged for minor weapon violation if you holster the gun when told to.

For the SL thing, it's the same, depends on what it is.
I've heard marines telling me to "release the medic because we need him" when the guy was in perma for two murders, it's never really a good excuse since every role is useful.
On the other hand, I've had SOs request SLs arrested for insubordination and disrespect, and when you question the SO further you find out the SL just said he didn't like the plan but he's still following it.

The latter isn't a problem since the false arrest charge, though.

Yeah, you're right. It's an IC thing, I suppose.

I would say it could go as LowRP depending on the reason, meaning a server rule was broken

The other day an MP attempted to arrest me, and two other marines who had just woke up from cryo. The reason? One guy hit a window with a satchel and then me and the other guy tried to stop the arrest. The reason he hit a window in the first place was to draw attention to us so we could leave since the doors were busted and wouldn't open. The MP called for backup and finally the CMP came and had to ask the MP six times to stop arresting us.

I mean technically yeah we damaged property but any smart person would know that a satchel doesn't do any damage. The MP didn't break any rules and he could have brigged all of us for 10 minutes or more even though we had JUST woken up from cryo without any of our gear. We were lucky there was a CMP but if there hadn't of been our rounds woulda been ruined because some MP decided to be super harsh. I feel like stuff like that shouldn't be allowed in an OOC sense.

Nobody is too important to be arrested, not even the Commanding Officer.

When someone says that they can't be arrested because they're needed:

Speaking as a Security main on other servers, the "Do you know who I am?" response, or anything similar to that, only makes the baton come in harder.

Playing security on other servers, I can confirm that I will arrest you no matter what rank you are. I will treat you the same as a Mime I need to arrest.
