What the fuck is this piece of shit guidething? NEVER wear any armor, because you can go fast. The slowdown of the armor gives the alien hunter the chance to decap. This shit is outrageous.

I agree that helmets ought to be a priority for your regular rank and file Marine because of the additional intel an SO can get nowadays. It's best to remember however that some people just don't like wearing the helmet and have different preferences. While this is ultimately detrimental to the operation by restricting the amount of intel and the theoretical sight range an SO will have, it merely adds more flavor to the game.

The amount of freedom in one's loadout allows them to feel more unique and feel like they have a degree of control. If everyone just wore the same thing, put a rifle on their backs and walked in a clean manner to their dropships, only to then execute orders with the degree of strictness an automaton would, games wouldn't be that fun.

It's quite irritating to be an SO and not be able to look at your Smartgunner because they decided to cosplay as Jenette Vasquez rather than slap a bucket upon their head and you could address it in character, but ultimately it's their decision and it if it makes them feel better, so be it.

Standards not wearing helmets is one thing, higher ranking roles like Specialists or Smartgunners is another. Considering the state of the game its not uncommon for these roles to become acting Squad Leader which does little for you when they are running around half naked with a cap.

In the rare scenarios where I'm a round start CO I may enforce a rule that any soldier of equal or higher rank than Corporal must wear a helmet at all times.

To be honest, often when the SL and spec dies, SOMEONE becomes acting SL, but noone has any idea who it is.

I feel like Specialists and Smartgunners owe it to not wear helmets, makes them a bit more unique, distinguishable and plays more into their role IC. A smartgunner isn't just another grunt but with higher firepower, they're a hardass with advanced training wielding a very strong weapon while a SADAR-toting specialist isn't just a marine with a rocket tube, it's someone trained in high explosives with the knowledge to level a bunker.

A helmet is something you'd see on someone less 'badass', such as a Marine, an Engineer or a Medic. While it might seem a bit cliche or over the top, but as far as I see it, they're people who ought to act a lot more proud than your average baldie. Again, look at Jenette Vasquez.

Hmm right now i LOVE wearing helmet with glasses on it. It really adds to style. But as a gunner i feel like its okay to not wear a helmet, im mostly stay in the back anyway.

NO ONE PATCH THIS!!!
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.
