GRIP - (Stop. Just stop and get a rifle. Putting a grip on an M39 just makes no sense.)

I've found recently as an engineer an SMG was a great defending tool. A carrier was lobbing face huggers over the defences while we were under attack from other xenos. SMG meant click and facehugger dead, no wield delay. Also if ff it wouldn't hurt marines much.

Against higher not very effective

I don't get why people keep saying not to put grip on SMG if in result you get higher firerate than M41A from SMG itself and quite good accuracy from grip and at the same time you keep moving with the same speed (at least, speed wasn't affected last time I tried it).

Only issue with the Grip is that it won't fit in a SMG Holster anymore.

In that case its only viable imo for Engineers since they can more reliably get AP SMG ammo.

M39 with a grip doesn't affect it's movespeed, with the right mods(and AP), you've got a discount M41A that you move really quick with.

That's really the only utility for it.

Even vanilla M39 can be pretty scary with AP loaded. Otherwise I consider it more of a sidearm and deterrant, surely its better than punching the aliens head on.

You think so? As a squad engineer (i.e. I can always guarantee I am full of AP mags for the M39) this option always appealed to me, but I was hesitant because the pulse rifle is a pretty good weapon already.

On my opinion, as engineer or medic, you should use either gyro-harness-buckshot shotty OR harness SMG AP. Because most of the time, you will have your hands busy and you need one-handed weapon. And M41A with gyro is... meh, so SMG with APs is better alternative.
